Position: Sessional Lecturer I (2 position available)

Course title and code: Case Studies in AI Finance - APS1053

Course description: This course focuses on the application of advanced artificial intelligence techniques (machine learning and some reinforcement learning) to emblematic case studies in stock trading and hedging strategies, portfolio construction, modelling options strategies, investor’s modelling, financial news, and building Robotic-Advisors. Includes topics such as the transformation of predictive input variables into statistically sound indicators, the evaluation of model results, and the analysis of situations where artificial intelligence techniques fail.

Estimated Enrolment: Approximately 50-80 students

Estimated TA support: TBA

Class schedule: One 3-hour lecture per week.

Sessional date of appointment: Fall Session Sept - Dec 2024.

Salary: Minimum level of pay is $4,728.94 each (50% of Sessional Lecturer I as co-instructor), which includes vacation pay, and may increase depending on applicant’s level of experience and suitability for the position.

Qualifications: Expertise in advanced artificial intelligence techniques, financial modeling, machine learning, statistics, mathematics, and programming languages. Experience as instructor at the undergraduate or graduate level as well as the ability to effectively communicate and explain concepts clearly. Applicants should have a strong record of presenting lectures. The applicant must be able to lecture in a clear voice.

Brief description of duties: Duties include: preparation of lectures and course materials for delivery; delivery of lectures; possible supervision of Teaching Assistants; setting and marking of projects, tests and exams; evaluation of final grades; contact with students.
