About the Role 

 

As a Senior Technical Product Manager in Labs, you will drive design and implementation of the technology we develop to prototype, evaluate and monitor robust search applications. This team builds customer-facing solutions, primarily for information retrieval use cases in the legal research domain. Product and subject matter experts are deeply integrated at every stage of the AI development lifecycle. The goal is to design systems and processes that facilitate this collaboration and continuously improve our approach. 

 

As a Senior Technical Product Manager, you will:  

  

  • Own the roadmap for internal tooling that enables highly efficient, reliable evaluation of search and related Gen AI features.  

  • Work with stakeholders to define scope, determine feasibility, and translate business/customer objectives into technical requirements for customer facing applications. 

  • Partner with leadership to create resource plans, ensure effective cross-team collaboration, and drive execution around product delivery. 

  • Provide technical guidance to partner product teams across the portfolio, as appropriate, throughout the model development lifecycle to mentor, proactively mitigate risk, and remediate blockers. 

  • Socialize progress and learnings to a diverse set of stakeholders to inform go, no-go, and pivot decisions, as well as to propagate learnings across the business. 

  • Balance factors such as cost, time to market and resourcing to optimize iterative value delivery for customers. 

  • Stay well informed on emerging technologies and market trends. 

  • Cultivate domain expertise and a deep understanding of customer challenges. 

  • Advise leadership on product strategy and prioritization decisions, contributing to a technology driven product vision. 

  • Mentor the technical product management community at TR, define and propagate best practice, and scale impact across the organization. 

 

About You 

 

You’re a fit for this role, Senior Technical Product Manager, if your background includes: 

 

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in CS, ML or a related field  

  • At least 5 years of hands-on experience building AI, Search, or NLP software 

  • Proven track record in technical product development, with a focus on applied AI research and end-to-end delivery of AI, search, or Gen AI products.  

  • Experience with search evaluation methodology and practice (e.g., A/B testing, test collection development, optimizing search experiences for different information needs) 

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, capable of presenting complex information clearly to diverse audiences and articulating a compelling strategic vision.  

  • Experience driving culture around agile project management and scrum methodologies.  

  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills, utilizing data and statistics to inform decisions.  

  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams (ML science, Engineering, UXR, Design, Marketing) to balance trade-offs in technologies and execution strategies.  

  • High attention to detail and proven ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously with minimal supervision. 

  • Exceptional time management and decisive prioritization of attention on high-impact initiatives in a distracting, fast-paced environment. 

  • Strong business acumen with proven experience conducting technical project ROI estimation and navigating complex enterprise funding processes. 

  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships and influence within a matrix organization.  

  • Experience cultivating talent through structured mentorship or collaborative peer development.

The base compensation range varies across locations. Eligible office location(s) for this role include one or more of the following: New York City, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and/or Irvine, CA; McLean, VA; Washington, DC. The base compensation range for the role in any of those locations is $134,680 - $250,120. For any eligible US locations, unless otherwise noted, the base compensation range for this role is $116,900 - $217,100. This role may also be eligible for an Annual Bonus based on a combination of enterprise and individual performance. Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual’s knowledge, skills and experience with consideration given to internal equity. Base pay is one part of a comprehensive Total Reward program which also includes flexible and supportive benefits and other wellbeing programs.
