We are looking for a software engineer to join our core speech technology team. You will collaborate with engineers, researchers and voice AI practitioners in the field to help enable various voice AI products for customers across different industries using SoundHound state-of-the-art ASR technologies. You will have opportunities to apply your knowledge and experience in both software engineering and machine learning to solve real-world voice AI problems and deliver values directly to SoundHound customers.

Please note: the initial stage of the interview process entails an online evaluation, followed by a recruiter screening.

In this role, you will:

  • Train, tune and test state-of-the-art ASR models for different languages for all SoundHound voice AI products using machine learning and deep learning techniques
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of ASR technologies into SoundHound products
  • Run benchmarks to monitor performance of ASR solutions and optimize ASR models for accuracy, efficiency and scalability across various platforms and applications
  • Provide customized ASR solutions to meet any customer-specific or product-specific ASR challenges 
  • Troubleshoot and resolve customer-related ASR issues in a timely manner
  • Conduct data-driven proof-of-concept experiments and apply SoundHound ASR and ML technologies to real-world applications

We would love to hear from you if:

  • You have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or other relevant disciplines with 5 years of full-time work experience, or a Master’s degree with 3 years of full-time work experience
  • You have experience with automatic speech recognition, keyword detection or natural language understanding
  • You have good understanding of deep learning and neural networks fundamentals, and are proficient in deep learning frameworks 
  • You are proficient in writing production-level Python code

We’d be incredibly excited if you have experience with Kaldi, PyTorch and TensorFlow, have worked on projects enabling on-device models using TensorFlow Lite, have knowledge of the end-to-end ASR pipeline, have experience developing, tuning, deploying and maintaining ASR models, have knowledge of NLP techniques related to ASR, have experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and other containerization technologies in cloud service environment, and have experience working with customers. Proficiency in writing production-level C++ code is also a plus!

This role is available throughout Canada. Employees within a 100-kilometer radius of our Toronto office are expected to work from the office on three pre-scheduled “core days” each month to encourage cross-team connection and in-person collaboration. Aside from these office-specific “core days,” this job allows for virtual/remote, hybrid, and in-office workplace setting options.
