We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer with expertise in Computer Vision (CV) and Machine Learning (ML) to join our team. This individual will contribute to the development of groundbreaking technologies utilized in numerous Apple products. Technologies developed within the Video Computer Vision organization, including FaceID, FaceKit, and gesture control for the Vision Pro, have revolutionized the way millions of users interact with their devices. As a member of the team, you will focus on Computer Vision and Machine Learning technologies for human understanding in the next generation of products to enhance further the customer experience. Through a comprehensive approach involving hardware, software, and machine learning teams, we aim to create some of the most impactful CV/ML products ever shipped by Apple.

Description


The Body Technologies team is responsible for numerous key algorithms for people understanding in videos and photos on Apple products, including iPhones, iPads, Macs, and Vision Pros. We engage in research and development within the domains of Virtual and Augmented Reality, designing algorithms that drive features such as body pose estimation, body tracking, body shape estimation, and action classification for real-time, live applications. We seek a Senior Software Engineer with experience in implementing and integrating CV and ML algorithms to join our team and contribute to highly visible and impactful projects. As a valued member of our team, you will have the opportunity to leverage your expertise to surpass current state-of-the-art methodologies, design and implement proof-of-concept prototypes, coordinate cross-functional collaboration with various teams, and address the challenges associated with transitioning prototypes into Apple-quality products.

Minimum Qualifications


  • BS and a minimum of 3 years relevant industry experience
  • Strong and proven software development skills with deep understanding of concurrency and multi-threading fundamentals.
  • Experience implementing and integrating realtime video and signal processing algorithms.
  • Experience with API design and software architecture.


Preferred Qualifications


  • MS in EE, Computer Science, or similar with experience in relative fields.
  • Track record of transforming ideas into products.
  • Experience with Apple’s development tools and SDKs. Familiarity with Apple’s ML frameworks and Swift is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Metal, OpenGL, CUDA and other GPU technologies. Familiarity with ML training frameworks such as MLX, PyTorch, TensorFlow, and/or JAX.
  • Excellent communication skills.


Pay & Benefits


  • At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $143,100 and $264,200, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
