As a Senior Software Engineer, you'll be responsible for designing and developing performant and scalable software. You will be working with a team of highly skilled developers to manage the upgrade and deployment of a network of thousands of production servers.

As a Software Engineer Senior, you will be responsible for:

• Implementing strategic features, customer-requested enhancements, and fixing defects for Akamai's Image and Video Manager and EdgeKV products.
• Contributing to architecture/design documents, code reviews, test strategies, and release/deployment plans.
• Designing and developing highly scalable and performant software from conception through deployment.
• Fostering a culture that strives for consistent, iterative improvement to our processes, strategies, tools and frameworks.

Do what you love

To be successful in this role you will:

• Have 5 years of experience and a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or its equivalent.
• Be a skilled Java developer with an understanding of performance concerns at scale (eg: CPU and memory resources, threading, virtualization, garbage collection)
• Have excellent scripting skills in a Linux/Unix environment (eg: shell, bash, python, ruby).
• Have experience developing backend applications, eg: databases, queuing systems, understanding of system limits and impacts on performance/scale
• Have some experience with technologies like Angular, Spring Framework, NoSQL Databases, Realtime Service Delivery, containerization technologies
• Be interested in learning about Image and Video optimizations and transformations
