Your mission

  • Develop and deploy robust Visual Odometry (VO) and Visual-Inertial Odometry (VIO) systems for real-time state estimation in GPS-denied scenarios.
  • Fuse vision, IMU, magnetometer, and optional RTK data using EKF, UKF, or custom fusion pipelines.
  • Build and tune perception modules for drift-minimized, low-latency localization.
  • Collaborate with autonomy and controls teams to close the loop between perception → control → actuation.
  • Optimize VO/VIO pipelines for deployment on embedded systems (Jetson, PX4, NXP, RTOS).
  • Run experiments in simulation (AirSim, Isaac Sim) and validate in real-world UAV deployments under degraded sensing conditions.

Your profile

  • Experience with Visual Odometry, VIO, or SLAM on real robotic systems — ideally in GPS-denied conditions.
  • Strong skills in C++ (core systems), Python (tooling, prototyping), and ROS2 (node, topics, launch).
  • Familiar with camera/IMU calibration and sensor fusion techniques (e.g., Kalibr, GTSAM, Ceres).
  • Familiar with SLAM/VO systems like ORB-SLAM, VINS-Fusion, OpenVINS, or equivalent.
  • Experience deploying and debugging code on resource-constrained embedded platforms.
  • Comfortable with testing in dynamic, imperfect environments — and making things work under pressure
Nice to have:
  • Knowledge of multi-agent localization, swarm coordination, or relative positioning between UAVs.
  • Experience with map-building or loop closure under visual-only constraints.
  • Understanding of trajectory optimization or MPC-based controllers linked to real-time VO.
  • Past experience with low-light, high-vibration, or high-speed environments.
