The Enterprise Data & AI (EDA) team at GSK is seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Product Portfolio Manager to join our team. This role will be instrumental in partnering with a cross-functional team of product and engineering to drive the roadmap for the GSK core data platform, CODE Orange. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating activities to develop solutions for internal customers, focusing on building out core data and AI platform capabilities to meet GSK’s data and analytics needs.
In this role, you will collaborate with multiple stakeholders, product managers, engineering, and leadership to efficiently manage the priority of the portfolio and strategy of the Enterprise Data & AI platform. You will contribute directly to the overall strategy of the Enterprise Data & Analytics team by gathering Business Unit (BU) Tech Data & Analytics (D&A) requirements, managing the complete portfolio, and ensuring the delivery of end-to-end solutions. Your responsibilities will include overseeing projects that enable faster ingestion and acquisition, preparation, and creation of AI-ready datasets by creating self-service data and AI capabilities. Additionally, you will manage ongoing delivery to improve performance and drive continuous improvement throughout the product lifecycle.
The Senior Product Portfolio Manager will support alignment across teams (Enterprise Data & Analytics and Business Functions) and foster a combined strategy to ensure efficient collaboration. This role also provides leadership and direction to the product and engineering team to ensure team alignment with the broader strategy. You will partner with customers and leaders to validate concepts, vision, requirements, and roadmaps, feeding into the Enterprise Data & Analytics Platform Strategy.
Additionally, this role:
Drives the combined roadmap for both technical delivery of platform capabilities and business deliverables and manages internal governance boards.
Establish business value, manage delivery and service performance and manage business risk within the scope of the platform product. Responsible for representing the product in governance boards such as Steering and Design Authority.
Understand business tech and business requirements, complete solution design, deliver end-to-end solutions, include data ingestion & acquisition, create microservices to help deliver faster business value, and provide ongoing management to improve performance and drive continuous improvement throughout the product lifecycle.
Drive alignment and provide input to the Enterprise Data & AI Roadmap and Strategy
Utilizing JIRA to oversee the backlog of work as well as confluence for documentation around the engagements
Be an evangelist of Product Management, SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework Enterprise) Agile practices
Actively contribute to the Data, AI, and Product communities across GSK
Key Responsibilities:
Delivery: Ensure project goals are achieved on time in alignment with the stakeholders’ expectations—ability to manage complex projects and escalate to other Enterprise Data & Analytics leadership team members when needing support.
Methodology: Project methodology will prioritize Agile, but where regulatory requirements exist may also require traditional Waterfall approaches or a hybrid between the two.
Ownership: Take ownership of the development/delivery projects and help steer until completion.
Partnering: Work when required with other externals and/or internal delivery agents to coordinate delivery.
Governance: Owns the governance that allows the projects and stakeholders to manage overall project performance and manage program risks within the global nature of some of the programs.
Forward-looking: Remain flexible towards technological approaches to ensure that the best advantage is being taken of innovative technologies. Keep abreast of industry developments in analytics and interpret how these would impact services and present new opportunities.
Quality, Risk & Compliance: Ensure all risks and issues associated with owned projects are promptly recorded and managed in the appropriate Risk & Issue logs.
Mentoring: Contribute to the overall running of the team, including the development of talent and capabilities.
Technical Architecture: Be conversant with technical architecture to design discussions in partnership with the dedicated Analytics & Data Architect.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree
8+ years of Portfolio Management experience
Experience and utilization with at least one of the following: Azure, Databricks or Snowflake
3+ years’ experience with Agile
Preferred Qualifications:
Excellent communication skills (verbal & written)
Understanding of current cloud technologies with a passion for learning innovative technologies, with hands on experience with cloud compute, cloud infrastructure and cloud data integration capabilities.
10+ years in managing cross-functional teams and leading the execution of highly visible complex projects, demonstrating strong project management execution.
5+ years in Data and AI experience
Experience building and operating GxP-regulated technology in Life Sciences
7+ years of experience in Product or Portfolio Management including the following (below bullets):
5+ years utilizing Agile Product Management- Scrum and SAFe methodologies
Marketing, educating, and driving adoption of data platform & analytics products
Resource allocation management
Backlog and roadmap creation and management
Deploying and maintaining enterprise-wide data platforms and analytics tooling
Communicating and capturing requirements for execution by engineering and driving delivery across multi-functional teams.
