Your role: We are seeking a seasoned technical Product Owner with significant experience in the Data & AI domain to drive the product vision, strategy, and roadmap of our internally built Healthcare R&D knowledge graph. This role is pivotal to the success of our R&D efforts in discovering and developing new drugs. You will focus on defining a strategic vision, expected business value and impact, and roadmap deliverables, while working closely with our engineering and architecture teams on the development and implementation of the target architecture set-up. Acting as the primary liaison between end users like data scientists, biostatisticians and research scientists, business stakeholders and the engineering team, you will define the product roadmap and ensure seamless integration with other systems and processes within our global R&D Data and AI landscape. This will also require you to engage in user acceptance testing (UAT) to validate the product's functionality, usability, and performance. Furthermore, you will continuously gather feedback from end users and regularly communicate product roadmap updates across the organization. Your proactive approach will be essential in identifying new product growth opportunities, as well as potential risks or roadblocks, and proposing mitigating strategies to ensure successful roadmap delivery. Staying up to date with emerging technologies and industry best practices related to knowledge graphs, ontologies, and their application in the context of LLMs will be vital in enhancing the effectiveness of the product. You are expected to be an ambassador for knowledge graphs, be recognized as an expert in their application, and evangelize their potential across the organization. You will join a multicultural team working in agile methodologies and having high autonomy in decision-making. The role requires office presence at our Darmstadt location 2-3 days per week.

Who you are:

  • Master´s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Product Owner or similar role, preferably in developing enterprise data platforms or data-related products.
  • Ability to envision long-term product success and craft clear and actionable product roadmaps to achieve the strategic company’s goals.
  • Experience with knowledge graphs or ontologies, especially with graph databases (e.g., Neo4j, Amazon Neptune), is a huge plus.
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum and DevOps methodologies and experience in managing backlog items, sprint planning, and sprint reviews.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to effectively collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and a strong sense of ownership.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Experience in the pharmaceutical or life sciences R&D domain is very beneficial.
  • Fluency in English is essential.
