The OpenShift Engineer is responsible for managing, optimizing, and automating OpenShift container platforms across hybrid cloud environments. This role focuses on OpenShift installation, upgrades, and migrations while ensuring seamless integration with OpenStack, ACM, LDAP, and CI/CD pipelines. The engineer will also support OpenShift Data Foundation (ODF), OpenShift Container Storage (OCS), and Oracle Kubernetes Engine (OKE).
Key Responsibilities
OpenShift Operations & Administration
• Manage, maintain, and optimize OpenShift clusters in on-prem and cloud environments.
• Perform OpenShift installations, upgrades, and migrations with minimal downtime.
• Implement and manage OpenShift Data Foundation (ODF) and OpenShift Container Storage (OCS) solutions.
• Troubleshoot and resolve OpenShift and Kubernetes-related issues in production and development environments.
• Ensure high availability, scalability, and security across OpenShift platforms.
Hybrid Cloud & Infrastructure Integration
• Work with OpenStack and ACM (Advanced Cluster Management) to streamline multi-cluster management.
• Integrate OpenShift with OpenStack for scalable and efficient cloud operations.
• Deploy and manage Oracle Kubernetes Engine (OKE) workloads as part of hybrid cloud infrastructure.
Security, Identity Management & Compliance
• Configure and manage LDAP integration for customer role-based access control (RBAC).
• Implement security best practices, including authentication, authorization, and container security policies.
• Monitor compliance with security policies and industry best practices for OpenShift and Kubernetes clusters.
CI/CD & Automation
• Design and implement CI/CD pipelines to automate OpenShift deployments and application lifecycle management.
• Develop and maintain automation scripts for OpenShift cluster provisioning and management using Ansible, Terraform, or Helm.
• Collaborate with DevOps teams to optimize containerized workloads and application deployments.
Monitoring & Performance Optimization
• Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions for OpenShift clusters using Prometheus, Grafana, or similar tools.
• Optimize resource utilization and cluster performance to ensure cost efficiency and scalability.
• Perform root cause analysis and proactive troubleshooting of cluster-related incidents.
Collaboration & Documentation
• Work closely with cloud engineers, application developers, and security teams to enhance OpenShift environments.
• Maintain documentation for cluster architecture, automation scripts, operational procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
• Provide training and guidance to internal teams on OpenShift best practices and workflows.
Requirements
Experience: 8+ years in OpenShift operations, administration, and automation.
• Container Platforms: Expertise in OpenShift, Kubernetes, and OpenStack.
• Cloud & Storage: Experience with OpenShift Data Foundation (ODF), OpenShift Container Storage (OCS), and Oracle Kubernetes Engine (OKE).
• Security & Identity Management: Strong understanding of LDAP integration and RBAC in OpenShift.
• Automation & CI/CD: Experience with GitOps, CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, ArgoCD), and Infrastructure as Code (Ansible, Terraform, Helm).
• Monitoring & Logging: Knowledge of Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack, and OpenShift monitoring tools.
