This position is based in Palo Alto, CA, USA. 5 days a week in the office with flexibility to work from home as appropriate.
Technical Program Manager, Hardware Devices
The manager of the Devices TPM group is a key role to accomplish the 367 Garage product development vision. This individual has deep experience in all stages of the consumer electronics product lifecycle from early concepting through production to sustaining and has a passion for building great products.
This role will serve as a critical touchpoint across multiple complex programs. You should have a strong technical background with advanced subject matter knowledge in developing hardware products, and know how plan and manage hardware development activities. You think creatively about how to accelerate and unblock programs, while hitting explicit milestones and deadlines. Working with stakeholders you will provides guidance on process improvements and recommends changes in alignment with business tactics and strategy. Additional guidance/criteria:
Plans, manages, and monitors operational/tactical activities of Staff. Manages non-exempt/exempt individual contributors and/or supervisors. Recruits and supports development of direct staff members. This role typically reports to a director.
Responsibilities
Leads a team of program managers to plan and execute multiple complex new device programs spanning EE, ME, and FW domains. Communicates program status and leads teams through key milestones. Develops detailed schedules for hardware (EE, ME, FW) design and builds.
Leverages strong written and verbal communication skills to introduce and champion new processes and best practices, leading change & influencing your own team members as well as cross-functional stakeholders and leadership.
Partners with cross-functional development teams (HW/SW/Platform/Operations) to create functional plans, translate these into operational processes and program plans, and guide execution.
Identifies and anticipates risks/blockers/issues and works cross functionally to effectively resolve with appropriate stakeholders.
Guides the team through decisions, balancing the business needs with technical constraints based on program priorities, and escalates when appropriate.
Assists in program planning to identify timelines and resources needed and works with team leads to close resource gaps.
Creates a TPM (Technical Program Manager) community; advocates the value of TPMs, mentors TPMs across the organization, and ensures that business and engineering TPM needs are being met.
Education and Experience Required
Four-year or Graduate Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or any other related discipline or commensurate work experience or demonstrated competence.
7-10 years of experience managing programs for new hardware device development.
5+ years of people management experience managing EPM, EPS, TPM teams in a cross functional org.
Experience with portable or wearable consumer electronic technology (hardware/software), mobile technologies, machine learning/AI preferred.

The base pay range for this role is $150,000 to $230,000 annually with additional opportunities for pay in the form of bonus and/or equity (applies to US candidates only). Pay varies by work location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
