As a Senior Manager of Software Engineering at JPMorgan Chase within the Consumer Banking Technology group, you serve in a leadership role by providing technical coaching and advisory for multiple technical teams, as well as anticipate the needs and potential dependencies of other functions within the firm. As an expert in your field, your insights influence budget and technical considerations to advance operational efficiencies and functionalities.

Job responsibilities

  • Provide overall direction, oversight, and coaching for a team of entry-level to mid-level software engineers that work on basic to moderately complex tasks
  • Architect and scale ML/Gen AI solutions to support personalized and proactive services, ensuring intelligent anomaly detection and efficient first responder agents.
  • Develop and manage robust ML pipelines for batch and real-time processing, handling hundreds of millions of daily records using technologies such as Athena, Alteryx, Spark, and AWS Glue.
  • Lead CI/CD pipeline development and infrastructure-as-code practices to ensure resilient and reproducible systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams—including Business, Engineering, Legal, and Compliance—to transform models into live customer experiences.
  • Be accountable for decisions that influence teams’ resources, budget, tactical operations, and the execution and implementation of processes and procedures
  • Ensures successful collaboration across teams and stakeholders
  • Identifies and mitigates issues to execute a book of work while escalating issues as necessary
  • Provides input to leadership regarding budget, approach, and technical considerations to improve operational efficiencies and functionality for the team
  • Creates a culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect for team members and prioritizes diverse representation

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience . In addition, 2 + years of experience leading technologists to manage and solve complex technical items within your domain of expertise  
  • Experience leading teams of technologists
  • 4+ years applied experience in Machine Learning
  • Ability to guide and coach teams on approach to achieve goals aligned against a set of strategic initiatives
  • Experience with hiring, developing, and recognizing talent
  • In-depth knowledge of the services industry and their IT systems
  • Practical cloud native experience
  • Experience and proficiency in Alteryx, Athena, Spark, Python, PySpark, AWS, and/or Azure
  • Experience in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field and expertise in technology disciplines

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Experience working at code level
  • Strong understanding of model monitoring, evaluation, and metrics like precision and recall.
  • Proven track record in data science, aligning technical decisions with business KPIs, and leading teams to achieve strategic goals.
  • Successful in A/B testing and metric-driven decision-making.
  • Scientific thinker with practical cloud-native experience and a collaborative approach.
