Position Overview
We are seeking a talented and experienced Senior Legal Counsel to join our Astana office. This role will be responsible for providing comprehensive legal support and guidance to the organization, ensuring compliance with laws and regulations, and mitigating legal risks. This role will report to the Presight’s Kazakhstan Country manager as well as Presight’s General Counsel.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
Legal Compliance:
- Monitor and ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards applicable to Presight's operations in Kazakhstan.
- Review and draft agreements, and legal documents, ensuring they are in compliance with legal requirements and company policies.
- Conduct legal research and analysis on various issues affecting the company's operations.
- Provide advice to the business on Kazakhstani laws and regulations.
Risk Management:
- Identify legal risks and provide proactive advice and solutions to mitigate such risks.
- Develop and implement risk management strategies and policies to protect the interests of the company.
- Work closely with internal stakeholders to address legal issues and concerns in a timely and effective manner.
Dispute Resolution:
- Manage and oversee legal disputes and litigation matters, including engaging external legal counsel when necessary.
- Represent the company in legal proceedings and negotiations, ensuring the protection of the company's rights and interests.
Contract Management:
- Maintain a centralized contract management system, including tracking contract expiration dates, renewals, and amendments.
- Negotiate and finalize contracts and agreements with vendors, clients, and other third parties, ensuring favorable terms for the company.
Corporate Governance:
- Assist in corporate governance matters, including board meetings, shareholder communications, and corporate filings.
- Ensure compliance with corporate governance principles and best practices.
QHSE Compliance:
- Comply with QHSE (Quality Health Safety and Environment), Business Continuity, Information Security, Privacy, Risk, Compliance Management and Governance of Organizations policies, procedures, plans and related risk assessment
Qualifications
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in law from a recognized tertiary institution. Master's degree preferred.
- The candidate should be licensed to practice law in Kazakhstan.
- Minimum of 7 years of post-qualification experience in a multi-national corporation or an international law firm.
- Strong knowledge of Kazakhstani laws and regulations, particularly in areas relevant to Technology, Media and Telecommunications.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Ability to work independently.
- Effective communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence and persuade stakeholders.
- Fluency in Russian and English languages, both written and verbal is a must. Fluency in Kazakh preferred.
