Position Summary:

The Senior AI&T Engineer will be responsible for understanding and maturing the Ground Support Equipment GSE), selection of GSE, managing GSE vendors, networking of GSE, and maintaining GSE configuration control. They will work closely with test designers, suppliers, and affiliates utilizing similar GSE.

Primary Responsibilities:

Primary (65%)

  • Work with satellite design and AI&T teams on common specifications for both
  • Mechanical and Electrical GSE
  • Leverage the heritage and new satellites base design, including network topology
  • Collaborate with affiliates using similar architecture to ensure compatibility as needed, including production and development
  • Work directly with GSE vendors to manage completion of detailed designs
  • Sign-off and attend vendor design reviews
  • Support and/or perform integration, verification, and validation of automated test scripts as they are deployed to the manufacturing test stations
  • Conduct detailed troubleshooting of tests.
  • Work with hardware designers to understand implications of hardware behavior and correct tolerancing in scripts
  • Manage and assist the hook-up and check-out of GSE
  • Maintain configuration control of GSE Hardware and Software
  • Collaborate on Software in the Loop and Hardware In the Loop projects which may draw from similar architectures
  • Support the development of launch integration CONOPS
  • Provide GSE training to launch technicians and engineers, as needed to support the mission requirements
  • Report and investigate non-conformances identified during integration and test activities
  • Participate in cross-functional planning, coordination, and task execution situations involving the full spectrum of engineering and integration activities.

Secondary (25%)

  • Support the evolution of the ARROW product development roadmap: includes design and testing adjustments, schedule, and cost targets aligned with future business capture strategies.

Additional Responsibilities (10%)

Qualified Experience / Skills / Training:

Education:

  • Required: Bachelor's degree in STEM (Science, Technical, Engineering, Math) or related scientific areas or combination of education and experience. Prefer Electrical Engineering background.
  • Preferred: Master's degree in STEM (Science, Technical, Engineering, Math) or related scientific areas or combination of education and experience.

Experience:

  • A minimum of 7 years of experience with a Bachelor's degree, or 4 years of experience with a Master's degree in satellite integration and test (I&T) engineering and/or related domains
  • A minimum of Three years of experience with GSE highly desired
  • Relevant aerospace experience with GSE
  • Manufacturing experience highly desirable.
  • Prefer experience with satellite command and control systems, satellite central check-out systems
  • Experience with Satellite Command and Control is a plus
  • Satellite test experience
  • Experience working with satellite systems, starting from conceptual designs and tradeoffs through detailed design, development, manufacture, integration, test, launch, and early orbit operations.
  • Exposure to programmable logic controllers and supervisory system (SCADA)

Knowledge, Skills, Demonstrated Capabilities:

  • Proficiency with various I&T engineering tools and processes
  • Knowledge of Alignment Measurement methodology: Scanning, Photogrammetry, Laser Trackers.
  • Knowledge of "hardware in the loop" and "software in the loop" test beds
  • Knowledge of satellite command and data handling, telemetry and telecommand
  • Controls engineering knowledge, comfortable with block diagrams
  • Familiarity with elements of space mission architectures extending beyond the satellite platform - including launch, flight operations, mission CONOPS, user interfaces is a plus
  • Communicate effectively in a clear and concise manner across multiple levels.
  • Be team-minded and ready to work in a multi-functional and multi-cultural, fast-moving and complex/technical environment.
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications.
  • Flexible attitude and strong initiative.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver results.

Communication Skills (Spoken, Written, Influencing, Proficiency in Other Languages):

  • Excellent listening, comprehension & interpersonal skills as responsible for daily communication via email and phone calls required.
  • Excellent analytical, interpersonal, communication (verbal/writing), and presentation skills.

Location(s):

  • Significant presence (90%) in Cape Canaveral, FL to work alongside Airbus US-Florida engineering staff
  • Travel to launch base (10%) to support launch integration operations
  • Occasional Domestic/International Travel

Clearance:

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance
