SENIOR DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR

Oversees database security, space management, performance monitoring and tuning, creation of Database users and granting and assignment of roles and privileges, monitoring Database backups, Database recovery in case of a Database crash, monitor Database growth. Manages specific application Databases like Medicom, Lawson, and others. Handles SQL and Oracle Databases, including performance monitoring and management, and UNIX system administration as required.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Participates in departmental quality improvement initiatives and programs.
  • Contributes and participates in IT Service Management programs which include ITIL and ISO 20000 Initiatives.
  • Participates in the department to prepare for Joint Commission International Accreditation (JCIA) accord assessment.
  • Serves as team leader as requested by Chief Information Officer (CIO), IT Director, IT Department.
  • Assists IT Manager/Supervisor in establishing agenda for team meetings as required.

REQUIREMENTS : 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field
  • Certification in Database Administration with a focus on Oracle and SQL
  • Minimum of four (4) to six (6) years of Database Administration experience.
  • Knowledge of Oracle database architectures (Single Instance and Real Application Clusters (RAC)) and related utilities and tools on Oracle 9i, 10g, and 12c.
  • Knowledge and hands on experience with Oracle Enterprise Manager 10g and 12c, Real Application Clusters, Partitioning, Diagnostics Tuning, Audit Vault Database Firewall, Database Vault, Advanced Security.
  • Knowledge of the SQL Server database architectures (Single Instance and HA) and related utilities and tools on SQL server 2005/2008/2012/2014/2016.
  • Knowledge of procedures for install upgrades, corporate database requirements, security, and backup recovery and automate the same.
  • Knowledge of troubleshooting databases by tracking database problems and performance using Oracle/SQL Server auditing features, dynamic performance views, server alert files, and tracing facilities.
  • Knowledge of database standards and procedures to cover instance parameters, object sizing, storage, and naming.
  • Knowledge of Local Area Network (LAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN) Networking, SharePoint, and MS Exchange.
  • Knowledge of Unix and Windows Administration preferred.
  • Skills in Database creation, user, roles, Tablespaces, data files, tables, indexes and views creation and maintenance.
  • Skills in Database administration following best practices, Database security, user and space management.
  • Skills in Database performance tuning and monitoring covering objects, tablespaces, and space management.
  • Skills in tuning and performance monitoring DBs to reduce 1/0 and rollback lock contentions.
  • Skills in Administering monitoring tools like DB Artisan, and SolarWinds to monitor Oracle and SQL server databases, space management, object growth and performance tuning.
  • Skills in Incident Management: Resolve single- and cross-technology, independently working with team members to resolve unusually complex or cross-technology incidents.
  • Skills in the Creation of users, granting roles and privileges.
  • Skills in Objects, Index, Tablespace, and Datafile space organization.
  • Skills in planning, installing and configuring Database back-ups for Oracle and SQL DB's.
  • Skills in Planning Database recovery in case of Database crash and DR setup.
  • Skills Application performance monitoring and management.
  • Skills in Applying Patches to Oracle and SQL Databases.
  • Skills in Creation of scripts in UNIX, SQL and Oracle for task automation.
  • Ability to speak and write in English fluently.
  • Knowledge of Business Intelligence and reporting preferred.
