Objectives:

The Production AI – Plant & Site Analytics team provides data products and Artificial Intelligence solutions for BASF's production plants: From data-driven soft sensors up to optimization - close to the chemical process, combining domain expertise in chemical process engineering and material science with in-depth skills utilizing AI, Machine Learning and graph-based data analysis.
The focus of the role is on the acquisition of new projects, the systematic requirements engineering for the adaptation or new functionalities in our solutions as well as the implementation of use cases with our internal business partner.

Main Task:
- Lead the design, development, and maintenance of full-stack web applications, ensuring robust functionality and seamless user experience
- Architect and implement scalable and secure APIs, microservices, and data-driven applications
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other developers to integrate machine learning models into production systems, ensuring technical feasibility, scalability and performance
- Conduct research and stay updated on the latest advancements in Machine Learning and AI and apply these techniques to solve real-world problems
- Communicate complex technical concepts and results to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, ensuring alignment with business objectives

Job Requirement:
- Advanced degrees: Ph.D. or Master’s degree in computer science, engineering, process engineering, data science or a related field
- Minimum 3 years’ related working experience
- Project management (continuously exchanging with internal business partners, budget, work organization)
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments, with a focus on delivering high-quality results in iterative cycles and with the ability to contribute to sprint planning, estimation, and retrospectives
- Strong programming skills in Python
- Proficiency in machine learning algorithms, model evaluation, and optimization techniques, with experience in handling large-scale datasets
- Proficient in DevOps practices, including experience with CI/CD tools, e.g., Git and integration with Azure Repos and experience with collaborative coding practices (branching strategies, pull requests, and code reviews)
- Conversational English and Mandarin skills
