A Day in the Life

We're seeking a talented Senior AI/Data Science Engineer to join our team and play a key role in extracting valuable insights from complex datasets, particularly images and visual data, using a blend of statistical analysis, machine learning, and data visualization techniques.
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:
- Collaborate with business stakeholders and domain experts to understand their challenges and translate them into data-driven solutions, with a focus on leveraging computer vision and image analysis.
- Design and execute robust data collection strategies, including image acquisition from cameras, sensors, or APIs.
- Preprocess and prepare image data, including tasks like noise reduction, image resizing, and format conversion.
- Conduct exploratory data analysis (EDA) to understand image distributions, visual patterns, and relationships within datasets.
- Develop and implement machine learning models using libraries like scikit-learn, TensorFlow, or PyTorch, specifically focusing on computer vision tasks like object detection, image classification, or image segmentation.
- Build clear and compelling data visualizations using tools like Tableau, Power BI, or Matplotlib to communicate insights from image data effectively.
- Document the entire data science lifecycle, including methodology, results, and recommendations, with a focus on computer vision techniques used.
- Stay up-to-date on the latest advancements in AI, data science, machine learning, and specifically computer vision techniques.
Required Knowledge and Experience:
- Bachelors / Master’s of Engineering in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related technical field.
- 8+ years of total experience in software industry, preferably working with data analytics.
- 5+ years of experience in data science or a related field with a strong statistical background.
- Proficiency in programming languages like Python or R for data manipulation and analysis.
- Experience in computer vision and working with images, including image processing techniques and familiarity with deep learning libraries like TensorFlow or PyTorch for computer vision applications.
- Expertise in data wrangling techniques and tools for cleaning and preparing messy data, including image data.
- Experience with exploratory data analysis (EDA) methodologies and visualization libraries (Tableau, Power BI, Matplotlib).
- Solid understanding of machine learning concepts (supervised, unsupervised, deep learning) and experience with relevant libraries (scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch).
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to translate complex data insights into actionable business solutions.
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) for data storage and processing of image data.
- Experience with big data technologies (Hadoop, Spark) for handling large image datasets.
- Experience with natural language processing (NLP) or other techniques relevant to the specific computer vision tasks.
- Strong understanding of software development best practices and version control systems (Git).
