Senior Data Scientist

We are seeking a dynamic Senior Data Scientist to join our Data Science team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with large language models (LLMs), retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and agentic AI. This role also involves leadership responsibilities, driving product initiatives, and collaborating with business stakeholders to ensure that our AI projects deliver tangible business impact. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Design, develop, and implement AI solutions to solve complex business problems. 
  • Guide and mentor junior data science team members, overseeing modeling approaches, experiment design, and development timelines. 
  • Own the end-to-end product lifecycle for AI/ML initiatives by collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to define requirements, set timelines, and align on strategic priorities. 
  • Communicate effectively with business stakeholders, translating complex technical concepts into actionable insights and product roadmaps. 
  • Coordinate with data engineers to build and maintain data pipelines that support both real-time and batch AI workloads. 
  • Establish best practices for model performance, testing, monitoring, and lifecycle management (MLOps). 
  • Stay informed about emerging trends in AI/ML to propose and lead the adoption of cutting-edge solutions. 
  • Maintain thorough documentation and perform code reviews to uphold high-quality standards. 

Qualifications 

  • 5+ years of industry experience with a graduate degree specializing in Machine Learning, Data Science or related fields (e.g., Natural Language Processing, Statistics, Operations Research). 
  • Proven track record of designing and deploying AI/ML solutions, especially involving LLMs/generative AI. 
  • Strong proficiency in Python and familiarity with frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or scikit-learn. 
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and familiarity with big data ecosystems (e.g., Elasticsearch, Athena, vector databases). 
  • Exposure to MLOps tools and practices (e.g., Airflow, SageMaker, MLflow). 
  • Experience in leading or mentoring data science teams and delivering high-impact projects. 
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with a solid understanding of algorithms, data structures, and statistical methods. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders. 

The estimated base salary range for this position is $160,000 to $250,000, which is specific to New York and may change in the future. Millennium pays a total compensation package which includes a base salary, discretionary performance bonus, and a comprehensive benefits package. When finalizing an offer, we take into consideration an individual’s experience level and the qualifications they bring to the role to formulate a competitive total compensation package.
