We are looking for a generalist with a broad technical skillset as Senior Data Scientist. In this position, you will be at the forefront of turning an ever-increasing amount of data into insights, prototypes, and productionizing those.
Embedded in Boehringer Ingelheim’s growing Global Computational Biology and Digital Sciences Unit (gCBDS) you will actively contribute to the discovery of breakthrough therapies that will increase human health.
This position is part time eligible with 80 %.
Tasks & responsibilities
You will collaborate closely with scientists and domain experts on challenging problems in discovering and developing novel therapies and design the next generation of analytics engines that solve these problems.
With your experience in data wrangling and engineering, Data Science and Machine/ Deep Learning, you will build prototypes that exploit the advantages of cutting-edge algorithms and high-quality data to impact the Boehringer R&D portfolio.
Furthermore, you will collaborate with developers, data engineers, UI/UX designers and architects for the implementation of scalable solutions for our scientists.
You will look forward to internalize trends in Machine Learning/AI, including input from other industries, and explore opportunities for transformative use cases in pharma R&D with a focus on drug discovery and drug development.
Through internal and external networking, collaboration and experimentation, you will contribute to advancing the discipline at Boehringer Ingelheim.
Requirements
PhD. in a natural sciences field with several years of relevant professional experience, alternatively master´s degree with long-term relevant professional experience
Domain knowledge and relevant experience in biology, life sciences or a related field
Experience in professional handling of large data volumes from various sources and scalable data engineering approaches. Experience with efficient use of Spark and SQL is a plus
Proven expertise in Data Science and Machine Learning with the common tool stacks in Python. Experience with LLMs/ RAG/ recommendation engines is a plus
Knowledge of good modern software engineering practices
Experience with deploying ML models in production/ MLOps, hands-on experience with cloud services and building ML infrastructure
Ability to dive deeply into multiple scientific topics
Passion to solve business relevant problems, combined with out-of-the box thinking and a can-do mentality
