The MCAPS AI Transformation Office (AITO) focuses on making sure sellers, customers, and partners are AI enabled to drive scale and efficiency with prioritized solution plays aligned with Microsoft Customer Engagement Methodology (MCEM), regionalized marketing, and operational centers of excellence.
We are looking for a Senior Data Scientist to join our AITO AICOE team. As a Senior Data Scientist, you would drive AI & ML solution development, emphasizing areas such as Generative AI, multi-modal AI, Recommendation Engines, Causal Model and drive architectural changes and platform roadmap to enable AI Solutions and Product Integration for MCAPS Businesses. You will also collaborate with various teams to explore new applications of AI research areas and implement architectural changes.
Responsibilities
Bringing the State of the Art to Products
- Gains an understanding of the latest research in the field of AI and Large Language models and assists in technology transfer attempts, contributing to patents, co-authoring white papers, developing or maintaining tools/services for internal Microsoft use, or consulting for product or business groups. May publish research to promote receiving new intellectual property for business impact.
- Under guidance from others, learns to communicate with key product stakeholders (e.g., researchers, engineers, designers, development teams) and understand functions and goals of different teams.
- Following instructions from others, works on a component of a product to create impact. Identifies approach, and applies, improves, or creates a research-backed solution (e.g., novel, data driven, scalable, extendable) for technique/technology to complete a given task. May publish research to promote receiving new intellectual property for product impact.
Leveraging Applied Research
- Gains a basic understanding of a broad area of AI and Large Language Models and the corresponding literature and applicable research techniques.
- Develops basic knowledge of changes in industry trends and advances in applied technologies. Shares knowledge with immediate team members. Learns product domain by reviewing products.
- Applies strategy by understanding the role in the team and applying the strategy provided by senior team members.
- Under instruction from others, researches new tools, technologies, and methods being used in the community that can be utilized to improve product quality, performance, or efficiency. Contributes knowledge around a specialized tool/method to support the application of business impact.
Capability Management and Networking
- Reinforces a positive environment by learning and adopting best practices.
- Maintains or develops ties with external network of peers and identifies prospective talent for Microsoft research pipelines, when asked. May contribute to publications on research findings. May participate in candidate interviews.
- Has an aptitude for Research oriented work that might need to wear multiple hats and the need to think out of the box.
- Has an aptitude towards understanding minute details of research and has perseverance to continue to work on research projects.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 7+ years data-science experience (e.g. managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results)
- OR Bachelor's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 10+ years data science experience (e.g. managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results)
- OR equivalent experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 10+ years data-science experience (e.g. managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results)
- OR Bachelor's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 12+ years data-science experience (e.g. managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results)
