Summary of Position:

The Senior Cloud Systems Engineer will provide technical operational support of core cloud-based platforms. The Senior Cloud Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and managing cloud-based infrastructure and applications while proactively monitoring performance, ready to provide expert advice and resolutions for any issues that may arise.   

Essential Functions:

• Design, develop, and manage cloud-based infrastructure and applications 
• Develop and modify scalable architecture to support applications and infrastructure 
• Provide operational support for Data Cloud Architecture. Create and/or maintain AWS or, S3 buckets, IAM policies and roles 
• Participate in AWS, including upgrades and migrations  
• Implement continuous integration and deployment pipelines to streamline the development and release of applications 
• Develop tools that allow for test execution across multiple environments: virtualized hardware, real hardware-in-the-loop simulations, and testing
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues within our AWS Environments  
• Establish and maintain essential systems administration processes 
• Perform process analysis and improve operational excellence by creating more efficient workflows and standards 
• Proactive monitoring, troubleshooting, and resolution of issues 
• Invent new tools that enable more frequent and reliable software deployment, test execution, and data analysis as part of a continuous integration and release system

Work Environment:

This job operates in a professional office & and remote environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. This Role is spent in the field (more than 51% of the time) there will be travel involved as well as working from the home office.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee in this position frequently communicates with other co-workers/clients who have inquiries about the various projects and other needs.  Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.  The employee must be able to remain in a stationary position 75% of the time.  The employee in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.  Constantly operate a computer and office machinery such as a calculator, keyboard, copy machine, and printer.  Frequently moves boxes with equipment weighing up to 25lbs across the building and/or to other offsite buildings for various project needs.

Required Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree      
• 2-5 years of experience

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:  

• 2-3 years of experience as a Cloud Support Engineer supporting AWS  
• 2-3 years of experience with AWS  
• Ability to work flexible schedules to meet job requirements

Preferred Qualifications:  

• 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience 
• Knowledge of a scripting languages: Python, Bash, JavaScript, PowerShell  
• Knowledge of how to work with API services 
• Strong knowledge of cloud computing platforms, such as AWS, 
• Experience with programming languages, such as C#, C++, or Python 
• Knowledge of cloud security best practices and compliance requirements
