Our Group Audit and Assurance (GA&A) team are the internal audit function for the Group. Their primary purpose is to provide independent and objective assurance of the effectiveness of the Groups risk management, controls and governance processes.

As part of GA&A, the Models, Data and Artificial Intelligence (AI) Audit team is focusing on Model Risk, Data & AI across CBA. The Models, Data & AI team reviews the effectiveness of the processes, controls and governance that seek to mitigate the risks associated with our internal, external and regulatory obligations for these risks. In addition, our team provides support for Business Audit teams across a wide range of Banking concepts and provide expert SME knowledge.

GA&A has increasingly embedded digital assurance into audit activities, injecting Artificial Intelligence (AI) into routine control testing and using digital tools to improve the overall experience for employees. The next phase of our transformation is enabling continuous, data driven assurance across the 3LoA.

Your team adds value by:

• Ensuring the organisation is taking effective and appropriate steps to identify, address current and emerging risks in the domains of climate change, nature-related risks, biodiversity and other emerging areas of environmental risk.
• Assisting Business Units focussed units to ensure effective implementation of the Group Environmental & Social policy.
• Leading reviews across a diverse range of business units to assess key risks areas are identified and assessed.
• Maintaining a focus on the horizon to understand the emerging and increasing regulatory, fiduciary and stakeholder focus on Environmental, Social & Governance Risks and its impact on the business.

As a Senior Audit Manager, Artificial Intelligence you will be part of a team of subject matter experts (SMEs) with a strong background in Model Risk, Artificial Intelligence, and Data Management. You and your team will provide objective assurance on the risks and controls and work closely together with the business audit teams to ensure adequate coverage is provided. Further, you will closely liaise with risk stewards, the relevant departments and line 2 to ensure appropriate coverage and continuously monitor the business.

The role involves leading and supporting data related audits and supporting as a data SME, the GA&A Retail Banking, Business Banking, Investment Banking and Compliance teams, while ensuring alignment with both local and global regulatory requirements.

The successful candidate will collaborate closely with cross-functional audit teams across Technology, Operations, Global Markets, Investment Banking, Legal and Compliance, and Finance.

• Active management of reviews assessing Artificial Intelligence models and traditional models for accuracy, performance, regulatory compliance, and alignment with bank policies and risk appetite
• Identify and evaluate model risks related to data, robustness, biases; ensure compliance.
• Design and execute validation testing to challenge model assumptions and outcomes.
• Ensure audit activities comply with relevant laws, regulations, and guidelines.
• Collaborate with model developers and business teams to build risk-aware culture and provide guidance.
• Deliver pragmatic insights, findings and improvement recommendations to stakeholders and governance committees.
• Maintain relationships with leadership and regulators to progress strategic model governance.
• Advise senior leadership on emerging AI risks and how to manage them.
• Maintain strong relationships with the GA&A leadership team, Regulators and External Audit to gain input and buy-in to strategic initiatives.

Other qualities you may possess include

• Hands-on experience in developing, validating and reviewing models.
• Academic background in quantitative fields like engineering, mathematics, quantitative finance
• Strong understanding of the landscape of Artificial Intelligence and model risk management including local and international regulations
• Proven leadership managing audit teams and projects with model governance focus.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to assess model risks.
• Ability to simplify complex model concepts and effectively communicate insights.
• Strong project execution skills to deliver across competing priorities.
• Relationship management skills to collaborate with stakeholders
