Work Arrangement
This role is categorized as on-site. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to HQ Building in Shanghai, China full time.

The Role -

As individual contributor in the AI/ML area of parking domain, to lead vision perception to enhance GM products and improve use experience

What You’ll Do -

  • As individual contributor to lead the development of advanced visual perception algorithms to expand parking ODD coverage and enhance overall parking performance.
  • Define perception requirements (e.g., accuracy, precision, recall rate, etc…) and align with suppliers on model improvements.
  • Lead perception KPI testing, including metric definition, verification strategy and pipelines with measurable acceptance criteria.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to optimize models for embedded deployment.
  • Design dataset collection plans and oversee annotation quality.
  • Do hands-on perception debugging in compliance environments to find issue and solve problems to drive algorithm enhancement. Make the report to give program/global team for clarification.
  • Do feature performance fine-tune (if required) adapted to China scenario.
  • Work with global teams to ensure compliance with system-level performance targets.
  • Support HIL/SIL validation and on-vehicle testing for perception modules.
  • Following the advanced technology of the industry, Continuous tracking the development and evolution of the core technology in the holistic perception and data closed-loop system, assist leadership in promoting the frontier technology development.
  • Representative of Perception algorithm, provide technical consultation and training within GM organization to improve core competence, efficiency.

Additional Job Description

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)​​ 

  • Major in robotics, computer vision, machine learning or equivalent majors, master degree or above.
  • Familiar with automate parking functions and logic (parking & driving).
  • 5+ years in AI/ML for automotive perception (parking, object detection, Freespace, SLAM).
  • Deep expertise in CV algorithms (CNN, BEV, Occupancy Networks) and sensor fusion.
  • Hands-on experience with dataset curation (e.g., COCO, KITTI) and tools (CVAT, LabelBox).
  • Proficiency in Python, PyTorch/TensorFlow, and embedded ML optimization (quantization, pruning).
  • Knowledge of perception metrics (mAP, recall, precision) and testing frameworks.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to debug complex perception issues.

What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Experience with automotive perception stacks (Apollo, Autoware, NVIDIA Drive).
  • Familiarity with MLOps for large-scale dataset management.
  • Publications in CV/ML conferences (CVPR, ICRA).
  • Knowledge of ISO 21448 (SOTIF) for perception safety.
  • Good analytical ability where problems are unusual and complex.
  • Proactive study sense, Structural and forward thinking, team work spirit.
  • Good interpersonal skills to work effectively with others.
  • Good oral and written communication skills in English.
  • Have a serious and responsible work attitude.
