The Advanced Research and Innovation Center (ARIC) is a research center within Khalifa University (KU), Abu Dhabi. ARIC is a joint venture between KU, a regionally leading research university, and Mubadala, a sovereign investor managing a USD 302B portfolio. 

Operating at all levels of the technology readiness level (TRL) spectrum, ARIC takes fundamental research from the academic domain and mature it to reach the industrial domain. ARIC has successfully developed and deployed, with accreditation, robotic industrial solutions in the aerospace manufacturing and MRO sectors.

As a postdoc in  at ARIC, you will be engaged in industry-lead research problems and get the chance to apply your knowledge to solve real world problems. You will have access to world-class facilities from robotics, computing, and other KU amenities. You will be working in the diverse and welcoming environment of KU.

As a LLM postdoc, you will be working on integrating mobile robotic systems with multimodal LLMs that can observe their environments through vision, touch, and other sensory modalities. The robots operate in dynamic unstructured environments  and is guided by the LLM to achieve its desired task.

In this role, you will:

•  Design a multimodal LLM setup that can operate on multiple sensory inputs such as tactile, LiDAR, vision, etc.
•  Work on training, fine-tuning, and validating multimodal LLM for mobile robotics
•  Design a framework of getting structured instructions for the robot based on LLM output
• You will work with engineers to deploy the solution to the real world

Requirements

• PhD degree in AI or related field
• Proven publication record in reputable conferences (CVPR, NeurIPS, ICCV,…) and journals 
• Proven experience with multimodal LLMs
• Knowledge in robotics is preferred
