We’re looking for a Responsible AI Risk Manager to join the privacy organization in the sales & support division of Microsoft. 

The MCAPS (Microsoft Customer & Partner Solutions) organization unifies the commercial go to market organization to accelerate our progress, stay true to the Microsoft mission, and empower our customers, partners, people, and Microsoft’s growth. Within MCAPS, TrIP (Trust Integrity & Protection) is responsible for governance, risk, and compliance specifically for privacy, security, trade, business resiliency and provides guidance and oversight across the MCAPS division. In TriP, the PACE(Privacy, Responsible AI & Customer Enablement) Team is responsible for data protection initiatives and Responsible AI (RAI) governance and strategy for the division 

As the Responsible AI Risk Manager, you will act as an integral member of the PACE RAI program accountable for responsible AI operationalized in sales process and solutions across the division. Key to this role is to define, operationalize consistent responsible AI risk assessment processes, and translate policies into effective controls in the sales and delivery systems supporting the division. Leveraging a risk-based mindset the candidate will assess risks and impacts of AI solutions developed in the division and provide recommendations to comply with standards. The scope will span Fairness, Reliability & Safety, Privacy & Security, Transparency, and Accountability to ensure trustworthy AI deployments.  You will have a deep understanding of privacy, fairness, and bias dimensions considerations in applications/technology and the motivation to identify potential bias in the development of products. You will also contribute to responsible AI policies and provide suggestions around internal best practices through proficient project management skills, the ability to influence without authority, to work in a rapidly changing ecosystem, and be able to represent your work to partners and leadership.

Responsibilities

Risk management and assessments 

  • Gather and analyze information through risk assessments, evaluate the level of risk, develop risk mitigation plans, and coordinate with stakeholders through the risk governance process to implement risk mitigation efforts 
  • Perform thorough impact assessments and reviews of internal AI applications applying enterprise responsible AI standards Document potential remediations to comply with standards and policies. Partner with stakeholders to ensure compliance before launch of AI solutions while using judgement from a design perspective, implementation of RAI principles to be balanced and “traded-off.” 
  • Ensure updates to controls, guidance and any training are programmatically managed when policies and standards are updated

Responsible AI risk and compliance for sales 

  • Translate Responsible AI (RAI)Standards and into effective controls and scalable implementation practices for our sellers. This includes partnering with engineering teams and Office of Responsible AI to define the required set of controls that need to be implemented in sales systems. Define the Responsible AI checks in the sales process to ensure seamless experience for sellers. 
  • Plan, design and partner with engineering teams to develop features in sales systems that have clear alignment to the minimum required set of controls for Responsible AI checks.

Project management 

  • Ensure organizational risks are raised to senior leadership, and continuously document, improve, and streamline processes to advance the applicable compliance programs and initiatives assigned. Manage cross functional dependencies, risks, and changes effectively by optimizing scope, schedule, and resources accordingly 
  • Actively create opportunities for synergies across engineering, Office of Responsible AI and other corporate teams to drive long-term technology solutions and shared roadmaps in the harnessing technology for compliance. Build and nurture positive working relationships with stakeholders and leadership and be engaged as a trusted advisor.  

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • 6+ years experience in Risk Management, Privacy, Security, Compliance, Government Intelligence, Operations, Auditing, and/or Finance
    • OR Bachelor's Degree AND 4+ years experience in Risk Management, Privacy, Security, Compliance, Government Intelligence, Operations, Auditing, and/or Finance
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years Responsible AI experience supporting ethics and safety evaluations, data privacy impact assessments and privacy controls in a technology organization.
  • Certified in one or more of these certifications: AIGP (Artificial Intelligence Governance Professional, CIPT (Certified Information Privacy Technologist), CIPM (Certified Information Privacy Manager), CIPP/E (Certified Information Privacy Professional/Europe), or an equivalent privacy certification.  

Additional or Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience within HR privacy & security teams in technology organizations.
  • Understanding of Generative AI and Machine learning technologies. Exposure to large language models (LLMs), multimodal models (MMMs), Azure Open AI and relevant Microsoft technologies is a plus.
  • Broad risk management, compliance, demonstrated ability to review ethics, fairness and privacy issues in applications and platforms and identify compliant mitigation strategies.
  • Effective written/oral communication skills along with desire and ability to communicate with business leaders through all levels of the organization.
  • Analyze complex problems, think creatively, communicate recommendations, influence change and be able to drive process and structure into an extremely dynamic environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to incorporate and balance diverse perspectives to address complex business issues.
  • Ability to collaborate with other professionals, remove barriers to progress, and lead cross organizational teams to accomplish complex technical objectives.
  • Experience with global regulations in privacy and ethics.

Risk Management IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $94,600 - $183,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $122,000 - $200,500 per year.
