Your Role and Responsibilities IBM Research’s AI Climate & Sustainability team is seeking a full-time Research Scientist to join our cutting-edge team. We are looking for candidates who are passionate about leveraging foundation models to tackle pressing climate and sustainability challenges. Key responsibilities include contributing to the development of large transformer- and graph-based models across multiple modalities such as geospatial, time series, images and text, advancing AI through new algorithms and methodologies, conducting innovative research and building elegant research prototypes.
Required Technical and Professional Expertise
At least three years experience using AI and Machine Learning techniques applied to spatial and/or temporal problems
At least two years experience working on distributed systems
Working expertise of best practices in software engineering with proficiency in Python.
Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
PhD in Computer Science, Weather/Climate/Geospatial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics or a related field
PyTorch or TensorFlow/JAX for training very large models
Deep expertise in vision or graph models
Familiar with Openshift and Kubernetes
