On a day-to-day basis, the incumbent could expect to engage in the following activities:
- Acquire, manage, and prepare real-world data for analysis
- Apply NLP techniques to extract relevant information from unstructured data (e.g., notes, reports) from EHR as needed
- Conduct analysis of EHR data to investigate associations between various predictors and health outcomes
- Develop/adopt, implement, and validate advanced computational algorithms for disease phenotyping, risk prediction, and treatment effectiveness studies
- Interpret and summarize the results of analysis for presentations, scientific reports, and manuscripts
- Effectively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including clinicians and data scientists from other departments/disciplines
- Keep abreast of emerging trends and advancements in AI research to propose innovative solutions to healthcare challenges
- Ensure compliance with privacy regulations (e.g., NIST and HIPAA), when working with health data

Required
PhD in Computer Science, Statistics, Biostatistics, Epidemiology, or closely related field required.
Must be obtained by the start date of the position.
Required Qualifications:
- Strong foundation in statistics and advanced methods for analyzing health data
- Strong knowledge and skills in using analytical software (e.g., R, SQL, Python)
- A minimum of 4 years of experience in analyzing health data using Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) approaches
- Understanding of healthcare systems, workflows, and Electronic Health Records (EHR) data structures
- Understanding of medical terminology, coding systems (e.g., ICD, CPT, SNOMED, LOINC, RxNorm), and healthcare standards (e.g., HL7, FAIR)
- Excellent communication skills to convey research results to scientific audience and the public
Preferred:
- Experience working with ML libraries (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch) and data manipulation tools (e.g., Pandas)
- Understanding of privacy regulations (e.g., NIST, HIPAA) for working with health data
- Strong publication record in reputable journals
- Ability to effectively integrate in cross-functional and multi-cultural teams

It is anticipated this position will be remote and requires work be performed at an offsite, non-campus work location. An on campus location will be provided should a candidate prefer to work partially or fully onsite.
Terminal, 24 month appointment.
This position has the possibility to be extended or converted to an ongoing appointment based on need and/or funding
Minimum $90,000 ANNUAL (12 months)

The starting salary for the position is $90,000 but is negotiable based on experience and qualifications.
