Our lab in San Diego is looking for a motivated and multiskilled Research Associate with experience in biophysics and protein sciences to help drive rapid progress in our drug programs across a variety of different targets. The successful candidate will design and execute various biophysical assays to investigate drug-target interaction kinetics and binding properties. This role will play a vital role in project progress across the portfolio from initial hit ID to hit to lead and lead optimization stages.
What You Will Do:
Design and execute routine biophysical assays from beginning to end using methods such as SPR, DSF, and other biophysical techniques to characterize small molecule-protein interactions.
Routinely and independently analyze & QC experimental data.
Program, validate, and operate liquid-handling automation (Biomek Liquid handler, Multidrop Combi, Integra Viaflo & Voyager) for 384-well plate-based assays and use instrumentation such as plate readers for reproducible, publication-quality data generation.
Communicate results efficiently & precisely in written format by maintaining electronic lab notebook.
Presents work to supervisor, lab and/or project meeting.
What You Will Bring:
B.S./M.S. in Biochemistry, Biophysics, or a related field with minimum 1 year of academic or industry lab experience.
Experience with biophysical methods such as SPR, ITC, MST, or other biophysical technique is preferred.
Familiarity with lab automation/instrumentation is preferred.
An eagerness to learn new techniques and keeping up to date with the latest ligand-binding technology.
Ability to work efficiently and deliver results within timelines while maintaining a high attention to detail ensuring reliable and reproducible data generation.
High attention to detail & excellent problem-solving skills.
