Research Assistant (23240947)

Ideal candidates will have a strong background in Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), and application development. The focus of these roles is to investigate how AI technologies can advance communication research and contribute to the social good. We are looking for proactive individuals eager to contribute to AI research and its application in media and communication studies.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead groundbreaking research in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML), focusing on developing innovative applications for digital media and communication;
  • Design, develop, and oversee mobile software applications, ensuring they meet high-quality standards; and
  • Work collaboratively with a cross-disciplinary team to embed AI technologies into groundbreaking applications, enhancing functionality and user experience.

Requirements:

  • Possess a master’s degree or above in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Statistics, or a related field, showcasing a solid foundation in both theoretical and applied aspects;
  • Demonstrated experience in developing applications for ML and AI using Python and R;
  • Strong experience in building and deploying applications on various platforms, including iOS and Android, using Java/Kotlin/Objective-C/React Native/Swift. A comprehensive portfolio showcasing a variety of projects is essential;
  • Proficient with Agile and Scrum methodologies and skilled in using version control systems like Git;
  • A proven track record of integrating AI and ML technologies into practical applications, evidenced by publications, patents, or software releases;
  • Deep knowledge of both relational (MySQL, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB, Cassandra) databases;
  • Experience with cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud, Azure) for deploying scalable AI applications;
  • Strong understanding of machine learning algorithms and deep learning architectures (e.g., RNNs, Transformers, LLM, LSTM);
  • Experience with NLP libraries (e.g., NLTK, spaCy, Transformers) and machine learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch); and
  • Excellent communication skills in English, with the ability to effectively articulate complex technical details.
