The Opportunity: Litera’s AI Innovation team is transforming the way Litera and its clients leverage their data for competitive advantage. As a prompt engineer on this team, you will consult and collaborate with numerous engineering and non-engineering teams at Litera to develop, review, and edit LLM and SLM prompts for GenAI features and solutions for both our market products and internal processes.  You will function as a company GenAI prompt engineering expert, helping Litera to fully leverage LLM and SLM functionality. A Day in the Life:

  • Collaborate with product teams, data scientists, and engineers to design and implement effective LLM/SLM prompts for both our market products and internal processes.
  • Analyze and improve LLM/SLM prompts based on performance metrics and user feedback to ensure high-quality outputs.
  • Conduct experiments and research to develop and assess new prompt techniques and optimize existing workflows.
  • Stay up to date on the latest advancements in natural language processing (NLP) and AI.
  • Function as a source for expert level prompt engineering knowledge.
  • Coach and mentor both developers and others to improve prompt engineering skills.
  • Socialize new prompt engineering techniques and technologies throughout the company.
  • Function as an evangelist for leveraging prompt engineering responsibly to benefit the company and our clients.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (PM, QA) to complete tasks.
  • Manage individual task priorities, estimates, deadlines, and deliverables.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of prompt engineering security best practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Role progression:

Within 1 month, you will:

  • Complete our Engineering onboarding plan.
  • Establish relationships with members of the GenAI innovation team.
  • Become familiar with Litera product offerings.
  • Engage in prompt engineering tasks.
  • Begin prompt engineering technology research tasks.
  • Assist the Director of Innovation and other team members with team tasks.

Within 3 months, you will:

  • Collaborate with other team members to implement robust features and products using GenAI and other innovative technologies.
  • Communicate with other groups in the organization to evaluate the possibility of leveraging prompt engineering to address current process challenges and inefficiencies.

Within 6 months, you will:

  • Conduct sessions and webinars to disseminate prompt engineering knowledge throughout the Engineering department and beyond.
  • Define new opportunities for leveraging prompt engineering to improve Litera products and organizational processes.

About You:

  • Strong understanding of NLP concepts and techniques.
  • Experience/expertise working with large language models and other AI systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a passion for language and storytelling.
  • Strong visioning, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Independent thinker, collaborative teammate.
  • Excellent at multi-tasking, and able to manage competing priorities.
  • Strong attention to detail to evaluate and optimize prompts.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with a cross-functional team.
  • Experience with Azure Open AI LLMs and Studio.
  • Preferred Skills:
    • Experience with low-code/no-code development is a plus.
    • Familiarity with programming languages and scripting skills are a plus.
    • Familiarity with cloud-based software development is a plus.
    • Experience with MS Prompt Flow.
    • Experience with multiple frontier LLMs – e.g. Anthropic, Llama
    • Education in Computer Science or Software Engineering is a plus.

California, Colorado, Connecticut, Illinois, Maryland, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Rhode Island, or Washington Residents Only: The salary range for California, Colorado, Connecticut, Illinois, Maryland, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Rhode Island, or Washington residents is $85,000 to $100,00. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, Litera offers benefits such as a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
