Project Manager (Director Level), AI & Software Initiatives
Role Overview
We’re looking for a seasoned, director-level Project Manager to lead complex, client-facing AI and software programs end-to-end. You’ll partner directly with C-suite sponsors, translate strategic goals into actionable plans, build and baseline business cases, and drive both technical and organizational change across cross-functional teams. Your expertise in program planning, stakeholder management, and change management will ensure we deliver on time, on budget, and with maximum business impact.
Key Responsibilities
Program & Project Planning
- Create and maintain comprehensive project and program plans for large-scale AI/software initiatives
- Define scope, goals, deliverables, phases, milestones, success criteria (technical & non-technical), and dependencies
- Develop work breakdown structures, resource plans, budgets ($1M+), and baselining processes for key metrics
Business Case & Metrics
- Partner with clients to build, validate, and socialize business cases
- Identify and baseline key success metrics (e.g., ROI, adoption, performance)
- Track and report on metrics against baselines; adjust plans to optimize outcomes
Client Engagement & Stakeholder Management
- Serve as the primary liaison for executive sponsors (C-suite) and senior stakeholders
- Identify key stakeholders, map roles and responsibilities, and ensure alignment
- Facilitate and lead workshops, steering-committee meetings, and executive briefings
- Develop and execute stakeholder communication plans, ensuring timely, transparent updates
Risk, Change & Quality Management
- Maintain a dynamic risk register; proactively identify, assess, and mitigate blockers
- Create and implement change management plans: conduct impact assessments, identify training needs, and coordinate rollout with clients
- Ensure rigorous QA/UAT processes and formal sign-offs at each phase
- Lead post-mortem reviews and continuous-improvement feedback loops
Cross-Functional Leadership
- Coordinate across Engineering, Product, Sales, Customer Success, and external partners
- Drive agile ceremonies (kick-offs, sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives) and/or waterfall phase-gates, tailored to project needs
- Champion a culture of transparency, accountability, and collaborative problem-solving
Required Qualifications
- Experience: 10+ years in project/program management, with at least 5 years leading large-scale, enterprise AI or software delivery at the director level
- Technical Expertise: Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Engineering, or related; hands-on comfort with data architectures, APIs, ML workflows, and cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP)
- Program Planning: Proven ability to create end-to-end project and program plans, business cases, baselining metrics, and dependency maps
- Stakeholder Management: Demonstrated success working directly with C-level executives—facilitating workshops, steering committees, and executive communications
- Change Management: Experience designing and executing change management strategies, including impact assessments, training rollouts, and adoption tracking
- Budget & Risk: Track record managing $1M+ budgets, multi-geography teams, complex timelines, and dynamic risk registers
- Methodologies & Certification: Deep expertise in Agile (Scrum/Kanban) and/or Waterfall; PMP, PMI-ACP, or Prosci Change Management certification preferred
- Soft Skills: Exceptional communication, presentation, negotiation, and facilitation skills; thrives in fast-paced, ambiguous startup environments
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior leadership role at an AI-centric consultancy or technology services firm
- Hands-on familiarity with MLOps toolchains and productionizing AI solutions at scale
- MBA or other advanced business degree with emphasis on strategic planning or operations
- Track record scaling AI pilots to cross-enterprise rollout with measurable ROI
