Protegrity is seeking a passionate and talented (Principal Software Engineer - Data & AI) to join our (GenAI Security Team). This position is a hybrid work role with collaborative in-office work as needed 2-3 days/week. GenAI Safety, Security, and Privacy is important to all of us. You are an experienced, driven, and curious engineer with a specialty for data science. You will be leading the development of scalable data and AI software pipelines that underpin our Generative AI (GenAI) safety, security, and privacy solutions. In this role, you will design, experiment with, and implement cutting-edge tooling and infrastructure to support the analysis, development, and deployment of AI models and GenAI technologies. As a key technical leader within our team, you will collaborate closely with AI researchers, software engineers, and product teams to deliver robust, enterprise-grade systems that enable rapid experimentation, model training, and seamless integration into production. Your work will directly influence the scalability and reliability of the company’s AI safety and governance products.
Responsibilities:
Design, develop, and optimize data pipelines, model training workflows, and MLOps frameworks to enable secure, scalable GenAI development.
Implement and maintain end-to-end model lifecycle management tools, including versioning, monitoring, and retraining workflows.
Collaborate with AI researchers and product teams to create tooling that supports model fine-tuning, evaluation, and deployment for GenAI safety and security applications.
Participate and AI model activities for unstructured data classification, embedding models, and LLMs.
Lead the integration of data privacy and security practices into the AI/ML tooling ecosystem, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA).
Build reusable, cloud-native solutions for managing large-scale unstructured datasets, including automated data classification, cleaning, and transformation pipelines.
Develop monitoring and alerting systems to track model performance, drift, and adversarial vulnerabilities in production.
Evaluate and integrate open-source tools and third-party platforms to accelerate product development while maintaining security and compliance standards.
Drive the adoption of best practices in MLOps, data governance, and secure software development across teams.
Stay at the forefront of industry trends in AI tooling, cloud-native solutions, and secure software development practices, applying insights to improve the company’s capabilities.
Lead thought leadership efforts, providing guidance and actionable recommendations to customers for enhancing their GenAI modelOps and secOps capabilities.
Qualifications:
7-10 years of experience in data engineering, AI/ML infrastructure, or MLOps, with a strong focus on scaling AI solutions.
Proficiency in developing and maintaining data pipelines using tools like Apache Spark, Kafka, Airflow, or similar frameworks.
Expertise in designing and deploying MLOps platforms with tools like MLflow, Kubeflow, Vertex AI, or AWS Sagemaker.
Strong programming skills in Python, Java, Rust, or Go, with experience in cloud environments (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud, Azure).
Proven experience with large-scale unstructured data processing, including NLP, computer vision, or multimodal AI applications.
Familiarity with AI safety concepts such as robustness, model interpretability, bias detection, and adversarial testing.
Hands-on experience integrating security and privacy controls into data and AI systems, including IAM frameworks, encryption, and anonymization techniques.
Working knowledge of regulatory and compliance frameworks (e.g., SOC 2, ISO/IEC 27001, NIST AI RMF).
Demonstrated ability to build and manage complex, distributed systems supporting enterprise AI solutions.
