Principal Data Scientist.

About the role: In this role, you will be part of the Data Science Health department at Elsevier, working on Elsevier's mission to provide solutions that advance healthcare for the benefit of society.

About the team: This essential team drives our Health Markets growth strategy through the utilization of home developed state-of-the-art evaluation methods.

Responsibilities:

  • Leading the development and maintenance of Generative AI (GAI) evaluation solutions.
  • Staying updated on the latest research, delivers production-ready Python code, and collaborates with various teams to deploy evaluation pipelines in line with RELX responsible AI principles.
  • Leading the design, development, testing, and enhancement of evaluation practices for Health applications and works with Data Science colleagues across the organization to share.
  • Working with professionally curated, evidence-based content from trusted sources.
  • Staying current with the latest research in GAI evaluation and apply advanced evaluation techniques throughout the lifecycle of high-priority GAI data science projects
  • Delivering efficient, production-ready Python code and oversee the code development of Data Science colleagues.
  • Collaborating with colleagues in Data Science Health, Technology, Product, and the Responsible AI department to develop and deploy our GAI evaluation pipelines in line with RELX Responsible AI principles.

Requirements

  • Possess an advanced degree (PhD or MSc and equivalent experience) in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Linguistics, or a related discipline 
  • Possess current work experience (Not Just lab experience) in expanding capacities as a Data Scientist.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently plan, lead, & execute complex Data Science projects. 
  • Ability to work across coding languages used in Data Science (e.g. Python, SQL) to perform advanced analyses (such as algorithm development, statistical analyses or training predictive models) as well as manipulating and visualizing data. 
  • Experience working on commercial data science projects with data engineering and software engineering principles in putting data science into production. 
  • Thrives on working collaboratively and enjoy supporting, learning from, and sharing knowledge with a team of people from different backgrounds.
