The Position
As a Post Doctoral Data Scientist, you will work at the forefront of data-driven research in drug discovery and shape how the global Drug Discovery Sciences (gDDS) department makes key decisions when developing new medicines.
Join the Data and Digital Sciences team and collaborate with an inter-disciplinary group of experts in data science, drug discovery, and our Research DMPK functions including PK/PD modelling and in-vitro ADME. You will apply your data analytical expertise to a diverse range of in vitro data from ongoing and past drug discovery programs, such as hepatocyte stability assays, and assays to predict drug-drug interaction characteristics (CYP induction and CYP inhibition assays). We are interested in your ideas to improve the analysis and design of in-vitro ADME studies and related prediction methods based thereof. Your work and ideas will actively contribute to selecting the most promising drug candidates and to the overall discovery of new drugs within Boehringer Ingelheim’s research pipeline.
This Position is limited for 2 years.
Note: To make it easier to find our job advertisements, we use the usual designation "Post Doc". Of course, this advertisement is not only addressed to applicants directly after completing their doctorate, but to all qualified candidates.
Tasks & responsibilities
- In your new role, you will develop and evaluate novel statistical methods to quantify uncertainty in in-vitro ADME experiments and PK models for compounds in Discovery Research.
- Furthermore, you will improve PK profiling in lead optimization by guiding in vitro assay setup based on statistical analyses of our rich in-house pharmacological data sets.
- Moreover, you will collaborate closely across the gDDS with experts in drug discovery, data science, machine learning, in-vitro ADME and PK/PD modelling.
- You will apply your scientific skills, including statistical and regression-based analyses, to real-world ADME profiling programs for advance decision making.
- In addition, you will share your results at internal and external meetings, present at scientific conferences and publish in peer-reviewed journals.
Requirements
- PhD in Computer Sciences, Data Sciences, Mathematics, Statistics, Computational Biology, Pharmacology or related fields; PhD should either be already obtained, or the defense of the PhD thesis foreseeable
- Proven track record in applying data science and statistics in a biology or medicine-related field
- Proficiency in scientific programming languages (e.g., Python, R, Julia), and common data analytics tools
- Solid understanding of mathematics, statistics, and data science; understanding of pharmacology or in-vitro biology is an advantage
- Authentic, enthusiastic, cooperative, and innovative personality
- Fluent in English, written and spoken
