As a Platform Engineer, you will help build PostNL’s intelligent camera ecosystem. You ensure that vision technology works reliably and is scalable across PostNL’s logistics locations.

Why choose us as your next step as a Computer Vision Platform Engineer:
✓ Visible impact: You help solve logistical challenges using camera feeds and smart algorithms – from roll container detection to recognizing the status of loading doors.
✓ Challenging scaling: You’ll work on a platform that is expanding from a single location to the entire PostNL network. You will help create the blueprint.
✓ Technology that works: You’ll use tools such as AWS, Kubernetes, CI/CD, and edge computing to ensure performance and stability.
✓ Freedom and trust: Work from home, the office, or on location – you choose what works best.
✓ Growth and collaboration: You’ll work in an ambitious team and continue to develop yourself via the PostNL Academy.

Your role:
As a Platform Engineer, you are responsible for scaling and maintaining the system. This platform processes camera images at logistics sites and uses AI models to recognize objects and statuses, such as counting roll containers or detecting open loading doors.

You’ll develop and improve a scalable, cloud-native architecture in AWS, manage local VMs, monitor performance, and develop smart solutions for edge computing. You help design the technical blueprint for national rollout while keeping security in mind – for instance, by blurring people’s faces in footage.

You’ll collaborate with various stakeholders, including suppliers, internal network teams, and AI specialists. You’re proactive, take initiative, and bring structure to a growing domain with an increasing number of use cases.

Your team:
You’ll join the Vision Platform team within the Technology & Innovation department – a close-knit group of engineers, data scientists, and a solution consultant. The atmosphere is informal and professional. Together, you make sure vision technology truly works in our operations. The entire department consists of around 50 colleagues who, with a scale-up mindset, are building smart digital solutions for the logistics of the future.

What we offer you:
A role full of innovation and work that’s literally visible in every street in the Netherlands. At PostNL, we aim to become the leading logistics e-commerce platform of the future – to deliver special moments even smarter, faster, and better. Your mindset, our mission. You’ll bring it together here. And of course, you’ll receive a great benefits package:

  • Top benefit: A gross monthly salary between €4,453 and €7,338 (scale 12) for a 37-hour workweek. But 32 hours is also possible!

  • Flexible working hours and the possibility to work hybrid. Work from home at least two days? Then you’ll receive a €45 net monthly allowance.

  • 8% holiday allowance and 25 vacation days.

  • Engineering laptop – Mac or Windows.

  • Commuting travel allowance.

  • A solid pension plan via the PostNL pension fund.

What you bring:
You’re a hands-on engineer who takes initiative and works independently on robust solutions. You understand both practical operations and technical details, communicate easily with stakeholders, and can clearly explain complex challenges.

You also recognize yourself in the following:

  • You have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree.

  • You have experience with vision technology or AI/ML-based image processing.

  • You have strong knowledge of AWS backend and edge computing.

  • You have worked with container platforms such as Docker or Kubernetes.

  • You have experience with CI/CD (such as GitHub Actions) and monitoring local systems.
