Our Network Infrastructure team is responsible for planning, deploying and maintaining Linode's hardware. We correspond with on-site technicians, maintain equipment availability levels based on demand, manage inventory and retire equipment. We look after hardware infrastructure management such as cabinet planning, equipment tracking, documentation and firmware upgrades.

As a Network Infrastructure Engineer, you will be responsible for operations in our global data centers. You will monitor and maintain our data centers, networks, and servers worldwide. You will also interact with datacenter NOCs via telephone, email, web portal, etc

As a Network Infrastructure Engineer, you will be responsible for:

  • Deploying and repairing servers, storage systems, routers and switches, and other hardware
  • Installing hardware and cabling, both on-site and remote, and installing and maintaining firmware and software
  • Managing hardware decommission projects including hardware disposal and data destruction
  • Responding to demand by shipping and receiving of servers, networking equipment, remote power consoles, etc. to maintain availability and reliability of Linode's network
  • Performing project-based work for various data center-related efforts such as migrations and hardware platform upgrades
  • Coordinating data center deployments from hardware request to rack design to software installation

Do what you love

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Have relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or its equivalent experience
  • Have experience in a NOC environment with hands-on hardware experience
  • Have knowledge of computer hardware and networking equipment
  • Possess robust troubleshooting skills; in a large-scale data center environment
  • Be able to show a good understanding of Linux system administration knowledge (e.g. server administration, internals, etc)
  • Possess professional problem solving, communication, and interpersonal skills
