Persona AI is developing and commercializing rugged, multi-purpose humanoid robots that perform real work. Persona’s founding team has a decades-long history in humanoid robotics, bionics, and product development delivering robust hardware that has touched the stars, worked miles below the surface of the ocean, roamed Disney Parks, and has even been featured on a US postage stamp. Our mission is focused squarely on shipping beautiful, reliable products at massive scale, while building a customer-focused team to achieve these aims.

We are looking for a Mechanical Technician to support the development, fabrication, and testing of mechanical systems and components for our robotics platforms. The role involves building and maintaining mechanical test infrastructure, executing detailed mechanical testing protocols, and supporting engineers with component validation, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of mechanical designs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Fabricate and assemble mechanical systems, fixtures, and structural components for robotic platforms using machining, welding, and assembly techniques.

  • Set up and maintain mechanical testing infrastructure and execute test plans for load, fatigue, vibration, thermal cycling, and durability testing.

  • Assemble, align, and debug mechanical assemblies, including gearboxes, actuators, joints, and precision mechanisms.

  • Collect, process, and organize mechanical test data; contribute to root-cause analysis and design iteration.

  • Perform mechanical modifications and repairs (machining, welding, bearing replacement, tolerance adjustments) to support prototype development.

  • Maintain lab inventory, enforce shop safety procedures, and document test setups and configuration changes.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Technology, or equivalent technical certification—or equivalent practical experience.

  • 4+ years hands-on experience working with mechanical systems, precision assemblies, or manufacturing processes in a lab or production environment.

  • Strong mechanical aptitude with experience using test instrumentation (load cells, torque sensors, dial indicators, coordinate measuring machines).

  • Familiarity with machining operations, welding techniques, bearing systems, and precision assembly methods.

  • Competency with data collection tools (Python, MATLAB, or LabVIEW experience a plus) and excellent documentation habits.

Bonus Skills:

  • Knowledge of GD&T principles and mechanical tolerance analysis.

  • CAD software familiarity (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar) for part modifications and assembly drawings.

  • Experience with CNC programming and advanced machining techniques.

  • Understanding of materials testing and failure analysis methodologies.

  • Certified welding or machining credentials

Why join Persona AI?

  • You'll shape technology that's redefining the possibilities of robotics and human interaction.

  • Work alongside passionate teammates who value diversity, creativity, and continuous learning.

  • Enjoy full access to advanced prototyping tools, labs, and the freedom to experiment and innovate.

  • We offer competitive compensation, excellent benefits, flexible work environment, and equity opportunities.

Not sure if you meet all the listed qualifications? That’s okay!
We encourage you to apply anyway. Our needs are constantly evolving, and we're always looking for talented individuals who can grow with us. You might be exactly who we’re looking for — even if it’s for a role we haven’t thought of yet.
