Developing Business Model and Customer Value Analysis for New AI-Controlled System

Background:

Munters, a global leader in producing air treatment and climate solutions, is innovating with the introduction of a new AI-based control system designed to optimize the performance and energy efficiency of its climate control products. This new AI control system leverages advanced AI algorithms to dynamically adjust system parameters in real-time, ensuring optimal performance and energy savings. The outcome of the first phase of the project is the basic version of the AI control system with focus on “performance optimization”.

At this step, understanding the business potential and customer value proposition of this AI-controlled system “Basic version" is crucial for its successful industrialization and commercialization. Our new AI control system “Basic version" is developed for both stable and precise control of outlet moisture (what’s injected into the “control space”) and room humidity.

This master thesis project aims to develop a comprehensive business model for this new AI control system “Basic version” to map customer values in stable control and to analyze its expected benefits for customers over one year.

Project Objectives:

  • Utilize business model frameworks to outline key elements such as customer segments, value propositions, customer relationships, key resources, key activities, and cost structure.
  • Identify potential customer segments and the unique value propositions of the AI control system “Basic version” for each segment, emphasizing the benefits of the stable control approach.
  • Propose pricing strategies, distribution channels, and marketing approaches for the AI control system “Basic version” to maximize market penetration and profitability.
  • Analyze the Customer Values and Benefits over one year considering the target of new AI control strategy (performance optimization in terms of precise humidity control):
    • Study the potential cost reductions, performance improvements or energy savings
    • Develop a model to estimate key performance indicators (KPIs) such as maintenance cost savings, ROI (Return on Investment), payback period and energy consumption reduction, for different customer segments.
    • Conduct customer interviews or surveys to understand their current pain points and how the new AI control system “Basic version” addresses them.
    • Perform a comparative analysis between the new AI control system “Basic version” and existing solutions (both Munters and competitors if applicable) to highlight the competitive advantages and differentiators.
  • Evaluate the Impact of the AI Control System “Basic version” on Munters' Business Strategy
    • Provide strategic recommendations on how Munters can leverage the new AI control system to strengthen its market position, expand into new markets, and drive growth.

Expected Outcomes:

A detailed Business Model for Munters' new AI control system “Basic version” that outlines market opportunities, customer segments, pricing strategies, and revenue streams. A comprehensive Customer Value Analysis Report that quantifies the potential benefits for different customer segments over a one-year period, including cost reductions, ROI, energy savings (if there is any), and competitive positioning. Strategic recommendations for Munters' Go-to-Market Strategy for the new AI control system basic version, including potential partnerships, marketing approaches, and product positioning.
