Team Member Management & Development
Hire and develop team members specialized in onboarding, securing, customizing & operating Micron’s SMAI platforms including Snowflake, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Snowflake, Coalesce.io (ETL), Apache Ni-Fi (ETL) and other platforms utilized by Micron’s SMAI initiatives.
Coach and Mentor team members to develop technical & soft skills including communication, presentations & collaboration within the team and Micron in general.
Develop, plan, facilitate and ensure team participation in team member upskilling and education efforts.  Office Hours, Technical Sharing, MSDG / TLP forums, seminars, etc.
Reward team members in a timely, consistent, and equitable manner using all of Micron’s reward programs as appropriate to the achievements of the team.  This will include (as available), Stock Rewards, Bonus Pay, Bravo Points, Bravo High Fives, and public / private direct communications (e.g.: email, meetups, etc.) with team members receiving awards as appropriate.
Plan and organize appropriate team building activities with the goal of enhancing team member relationships and encouraging a fun working environment.
Ensure all team members, including yourself, are current on all Micron & SMAI required training.
Develop & maintain career plans for each role and team member demonstrating goals and requirements to achieve next levels of GJS (e.g.: E3 > E4 > E5, etc.). Hold team members accountable to creating and achieving goals agreed to on the career path and on their performance to their job responsibilities.
Discipline team members and correct behaviors such as poor performance, not following Micron’ policies, non-professional communications, mistreatment of other employees, or any other non-allowed or desired actions at Micron.  Follow all guidance from Micron HR department processes and business partners up to and including team member dismissal when necessary.
Resolve conflicts or other issues that arise with your team members and other employees utilizing the full extent of Micron supporting tools and teams such as your HR business partner and upper management team.
 
Vendor Management
Facilitate communication with vendors through deep partnership with TAM, Support portal, Feedback channels including features/bugs.
Maintain knowledge of vendor roadmaps, upcoming changes to services, and other items of interest to Micron team members through regular communications with vendors.  Ensure attendance (when possible) at strategic vendor events and conferences by appropriate Micron SMAI – Technical Solutions team members such as Solution Architects, DE/MLE leaders, SMAI strategy/pillar leads, etc.
 
Micron IP, Security & Risk
Develop Micron SMAI platform security procedures and policies that protect Micron IP, prevent outages or damage to Micron assets.  Ensure procedures and policies are reviewed and approved by SMAI senior leadership and are aligned with Micron IT practices and standards for the platforms we operate.
Partner with Micron IT security teams to enable data and system access through established enterprise systems and process (e.g.: TLS/SSL certificate management, IAG generic account management, SailPoint/RBAC, Linux Groups & Accounts, etc.).
Prioritize any remediation efforts identified by Micron IT, SMAI or other authorized departments to protect Micron’s IP and assets.  Ensure all such remediations have visibility at senior SMAI and SMTS leadership levels.  This may include account revocations, audit investigations, freeze of assets (e.g.: databases & logs), or other priority items necessary to protect Micron.
Ensure Micron IT (security, I&O cloud gov, etc.) processes and procedures are followed while enabling new services in public cloud/SaaS systems like GCP.  This will include SARB requests, Cloud Gov whitelisting weekly reviews, and other required processes as needed.
 
Platform Management
Deploy, administer, and manage all strategic platform systems and services that enable SMAI projects, including but not exclusive to, Snowflake, GCP, Apache Ni-Fi, Coalesce.io, etc.
Define service level agreement (SLA) definitions and manage uptime and performance of systems to that level. Closely partner with Micron IT departments (e.g.: network, security, storage, etc.) and SMAI project teams to ensure service availability is kept to SMAI requirements.
Monitor all aspects of system cost for pay as you go services like Snowflake & GCP to ensure Micron stays within tolerance of planned budgets.  Provide reporting tools and monitoring notices to accountable SMAI team members (e.g.: GCP project owners & sponsors, Snowflake warehouse owners & sponsors, etc.) regarding budgets for services they use.
Escalate significant unplanned cost and budget exception issues to accountable senior SMAI leadership roles.  Work Sr Platform leaders to remediate or approve significant budget deviations that will affect Micron’s planned annual OPEX.  This could include budget increases or reduction of services in platform to balance.
Partner with Platform Architects and Platform Automation to enable new software platforms and services (e.g.: SaaS, new GCP offerings, etc.).
Provide safety mechanisms where possible to prevent run-away spending, like service quotas, service account revocations, warning email and other notifications.  Ensure on-call groups and contacts for projects are valid and that the team members are aware of responsibilities to respond to such events at top priority.
Partner with SMTS teams to provide 24x7 support for all strategic platform (Snowflake, GCP) services where required.
 
Metrics
Develop, maintain, and regularly share through review key metrics for Platform management to internal SMTS leaders.  These should include cost, outage, performance dimensions as defined above.
Use metrics to drive decisions and influence strategic decisions such as which services to support (based on performance, cost, etc.)
