You will…- Lead and own the planning, creation, execution and documentation of all closed course vehicle test campaigns at Waabi and define ways for how to set them up efficiently and effectively.- Bring an in-depth understanding of trucking technology, sensors, compute and actuators used in self-driving vehicles which enables you to support the identification of failure root causes.- Act as a central point of contact at Waabi for all matters related to closed course vehicle testing and operations in Phoenix, AZ (US) and communicate updates, progress and potential roadblocks to stakeholders at all levels.- Help drive Waabi’s excellent safety culture through application of safety standards and methodologies in all aspects of your work.- Define, design and implement all necessary improvements for our closed course testing activities and propose improvements for any other vehicle testing efforts we do at Waabi as well as for how we can improve and simplify verification by improving the capabilities of our highly realistic simulator.- Oversee the execution of Waabi Operations training for left and right seat personnel- Support the overall concept for how we document and link all product requirements, system requirements, tests and test executions for all aspects of the highly autonomous vehicle.- Own the tracking of test generation and execution in line with company project milestones.- Continuously enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of closed course testing by applying lessons learned and ensuring detailed and comprehensive documentation that is easily accessible.- Implement tools and methodologies to streamline and automate vehicle testing where applicable.- Work with external partners to get access to the necessary facilities and capabilities to conduct vehicle testing.- Lead a team of experienced and skilled test engineers and ensure they stay hungry to grow in their roles.
Qualifications:- 5+ years of automotive, robotics, aerospace or related industry experience.- Experience with closed course vehicle testing for advanced driver assistance systems or autonomous vehicles.- Experience with executing complex vehicle test campaigns.- Good understanding of first principles in mathematics, engineering and physics.- Ability to communicate complex concepts or data in a simple-yet-accurate manner.- Data analysis skills with simple tools like spreadsheets.- Open-minded and collaborative leader who is eager to provide guidance and has the willingness to help others.- Passionate about self-driving technologies, solving hard problems, and creating innovative solutions.
Bonus/nice to have:- Engineering degree.- Hands-on vehicle and truck experience, e.g. manufacturing, maintenance or operation.- Data analysis skills with modern tools such as Python or Matlab.- Experience in launching a driverless product.- Experience in leading small teams of test engineers.- Experience in the automotive self driving industry.- Experience in robotics or machine learning.- Proficiency with data mining, mathematics, and statistical analysis.
