Machine Learning Engineering Manager Toronto, Canada

As a Research Engineering Manager at Autodesk Research, you will manage a team of research engineers building new ML-powered product features to help our customers imagine, design, and make a better world. You are an engineering manager who is passionate about solving problems and building things. You will coach your team to collaborate across organizations with a versatile group of AI Researchers, ML Engineers, Software Architects, and Experience Designers. You are comfortable working at the intersection of research and product, and excited to collaborate with AI researchers to build generative AI features in Autodesk products.

You will report to a research manager in the Research Engineering organization of Autodesk Research. We are a global team, located in London, San Francisco, Toronto, and remotely. For this role we support both in-person, hybrid, and remote work.

Responsibilities

· Work with your team to help understand requirements, evaluate new features, and help build technology roadmaps.

· Build a new team by recruiting talent from diverse backgrounds and perspectives.

· Build partnerships with technical leads and important individuals within other functional organizations, to implement compelling solutions.

· Build an inclusive culture, mentor team members, and provide your team with the tools to reach their goals.

· Foster a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and excellence in software development.

· Keep up to date with the latest AI and Data Engineering technologies and apply this expertise to guide your team.

Minimum Qualifications

· BSc or MSc in Computer Science, or equivalent industry experience.

· 5+ years of software development experience.

· 2+ years of experience as a manager.

· Experience with training and deploying PyTorch codebases.

· Experience with deploying production ML models.

· Experience managing and resolving complex and ambiguous issues.

· Experience delivering production applications with Amazon Web Services.

· Experience with modern software practices including Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery, and Infrastructure-as-Code

· Knowledge of best practices for software version control, unit tests, and code documentation.

· Experience documenting progress and proactively providing updates to partners and leadership.

Additional Qualifications

· Strong data modelling, architecture, and processing skills with varied data representations including 2D and 3D geometry.

· Knowledge of the design, manufacturing, AEC, or media & entertainment industries.

· Experience with Autodesk or similar products (CAD, CAE, CAM, etc.).

Salary transparency

Salary is one part of Autodesk’s competitive compensation package. For U.S.-based roles, we expect a starting base salary between $149,600 and $242,000. Offers are based on the candidate’s experience and geographic location, and may exceed this range. In addition to base salaries, we also have a significant emphasis on annual cash bonuses, commissions for sales roles, stock grants, and a comprehensive benefits package.
