As part of Akamai's Cloud Compute team, we enable customers to connect their on-premise or cloud infrastructure to the Akamai Connected Cloud (ACC) by improving the platform's IP addressing and building products to integrate better into data centers and other public clouds. This role offers a unique opportunity to write production-quality software in the networking domain.

This role provides an opportunity to make a significant impact on Akamai's growing cloud offerings. You must have a passion to get things done quickly and get them done right.

As a Software Engineer Principal Lead, you will be responsible for:

• Helping build out cloud platform functionality that sets up, manages, and protects networking in the ACC
• Designing, implementing, reviewing, documenting, and testing high quality code in close collaboration with your team
• Working closely with peers, and coordinating with global teams to build new features or resolve software
  bugs
• Providing organizational and functional leadership to a small number of reports

Do what you love

To be successful in this role you will:

• Have a minimum of 12 years of commercial software development experience
• Have experience with Python. Go and Ansible experience are useful, but not required
• Have experience working with docker and Linux APIs
• Understand networking protocols such as: HTTP, TCP/IP, IPv6, BGP and cloud networking features
• Demonstrate knowledge with technologies like containers, Kubernetes and/or serverless computing
• Have solid skills in writing, testing and understanding complex computer software
• Be experienced in technical design, product specifications reviews, projects and backlog planning
• Be able to work productively to identify and resolve issues in a collaborative, transparent manner
