Job Description

We’re looking for a Lead AI Designer, to join our team working on our new game. We are evolving the leadership roles at Massive by clearly distinguishing the mandates and responsibilities between Craft Leads and People Managers within our projects. As a Lead, your mission is to play a central part in our development process, guiding and enhancing the quality and technical expertise of our teams. You will own the combat experience, AI features and workflows to create them. In this role you’ll work closely with our Game Director and Creative Director, ensuring that the content meets the high-quality bar of our combat experiences. 

What you’ll do   

  • Interpret the vision for combat in the game and translate it into clear guidelines and design principles for the team, hold regular reviews and provide iterative feedback to help them deliver the highest quality experience possible 
  • Establish workflows and best practices for the technical architecture and implementation style of our in game AI characters. 
  • Collaborate with other teams to build world class PVE combat experiences, while also integrating their goals into your teams designs 
  • Work with other disciplines leads to plan, assess risks and ensure timely delivery. 
  • Evaluate user testing results and formulate strategies for how to respond with design changes to maximize our players experiences 
  • Delegate responsibilities, guide team members and be active in prioritizing initiatives to improve the game in the best way possible

Qualifications

What you’ll bring:   

  • You have significant experience in AAA game development and have shipped at least one AAA title as a Lead 
  • Professional experience in managing a team of direct reports 
  • Experience working with behavior trees is a must  
  • Experience designing enemy A.I. & non-hostile NPCs;  
  • Experience working on character-driven action games 
  • Knowledge of an iterative development process and rapid prototyping; 
  • Working knowledge with node-based tools/game engines
