The main purpose of the AI Specialist Intern is to assist Lean Agile Center of Excellence (LACE) within the Research and Development Department in the implementation of AI-driven solutions that enhance R&D processes and improve Developer Experience (DX). 
This role involves leveraging AI tools to optimize workflows, streamline onboarding R&D processes, and contribute to the adoption of advanced development practices. Additionally, the intern will work closely with the R&D Leadership team to analyze metrics, identify areas for improvement, and support the overall mission of fostering a culture of innovation and efficiency in R&D operation and a comfortable work environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• AI Tool Development: Assist LACE in designing, developing, and deploying AI-driven tools and solutions that enhance R&D processes and streamline Developer Experience (DX) initiatives within R&D.
• Data Analysis: Analyze large datasets to identify trends, patterns, and insights that can be leveraged to optimize R&D operations and improve developer onboarding and productivity.
• Process Optimization: Support the implementation of AI solutions that improve the efficiency of R&D workflows and contribute to a metrics-driven approach to problem-solving.
• Collaboration with TechLeadership: Work closely with TechLeadership to align AI initiatives with the department's strategic goals and ensure effective integration of AI tools into existing systems.
• Documentation and Reporting: Maintain detailed documentation of AI projects, including development processes, results, and lessons learned, and provide regular reports on progress and outcomes.
• Innovation and Research: Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in AI technology and research, and contribute innovative ideas to advance the capabilities and impact of AI within the R&D department.

REQUIREMENTS

• Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field with specialty in Research and Development Department operation and a comfortable developer’s work environment.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R.
• Basic knowledge of machine learning algorithms and data analysis techniques.
• Familiarity with AI tools and frameworks, such as Copilot, TensorFlow, PyTorch, Atlassian AI, Google Suite AI or scikit-learn.
• Experience with data visualization tools and techniques, such as JellyFish.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to work effectively in a team and adapt to a dynamic environment.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
• Enthusiasm for learning and applying new AI technologies and methods.

GOOD TO HAVE

• Experience or internships in AI research, data science, or software development, particularly in industries such as tech or finance, would be an advantage.
• Skills in advanced machine learning techniques, such as deep learning, natural language processing (NLP), or computer vision, would be beneficial. Familiarity with cloud-based AI services (e.g., AWS SageMaker, Google AI Platform) is a plus.
• Experience with AI project management tools or frameworks, such as Atlassian Analytics, MLflow or TensorBoard, would be advantageous. A demonstrated ability to work on interdisciplinary projects and a strong interest in emerging AI technologies and trends would be highly valued.
