Information Technology Manager / Assistant Information Technology Manager (Artificial Intelligence) (23240802)

Position description

The IT Manager / Assistant IT Manager will join the Applications & Integration Services Section playing a crucial role within the Office of Information Technology, reporting directly to the Senior Information Technology Manager. The incumbent will be responsible to actively contribute to the development and management of artificial intelligence enabled applications across different areas in the University, aiding our digital transformation towards the AI-enabled community.

Responsibilities:

  • Engage in research and evaluation of AI developments and industry-specified trend to align with evolving business needs;
  • Understand business needs and able to propose appropriate AI / Digital solutions, take part in innovative projects with new technology;
  • Participate in all stages of the system development life cycle, including requirements analysis, system development, testing, implementation, and ongoing support for AI-related projects;
  • Prepare detailed system specifications and maintain precise documentation;
  • Work with other IT teams to troubleshoot and resolve system issues, embedding AI products to ensure timely and effective resolutions;
  • Collaborate with vendors and system implementers, coordinating and documenting meetings;
  • Ensure the product/application complies with responsible AI best practices; and
  • Leverage the AI product to maximise efficiency and productivity. 

Requirements:

  • A bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, or a related discipline;
  • Minimum of 8 years of post-qualification experience in system development / integration and solution implementation;
  • Experience in:
    • Development of web, and mobile application with technologies like React Native, Node.js, PHP, Java, Python and Javascript, etc;
    • ML/AI model integration / building / customisation;
    • Cloud infrastructure development/migration/integration;
    • Sound knowledge of DBMS such as MSSQL;
    • Agile development, CI/CD, and DevOps;
  • A keen interest in the latest generative AI developments and a passion for innovation; and
  • Ability to work well in a team environment while also being capable of working independently. 

Candidates with less experience will be considered as Assistant IT Manager.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to sit for a written test.

The initial appointment will be offered on a fixed-term contract for up to 2 years. Re-appointment thereafter will be subject to mutual agreement.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
