PURPOSE

The Generative AI Integration Specialist will collaborate closely with our editorial, product, and development teams to design, refine, and optimize AI-driven content creation and operational workflows. In this role, you will bridge editorial needs with technical capabilities, leveraging advanced AI models (OpenAI, Hugging Face, or custom ML) and tools to streamline content creation, improve editorial processes, and enhance the overall user experience.

You will work with Full-Stack Developers, data specialists, and multimedia producers to ensure generative AI tools are seamlessly integrated into our CMS and other platform features. This hands-on position is critical for improving the speed, accuracy, and scale of our content production while maintaining Kitco News’ industry-leading editorial standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following:

1.            Generative AI Integration & Model Refinement

o             Configure and fine-tune generative AI models to create, summarize, or enhance news content related to precious metals, commodities, and cryptocurrencies.

o             Collaborate with product teams to design and implement custom workflows for AI-based content generation, including prompt engineering, testing, and iteration.

o             Evaluate model outputs for accuracy, quality, and compliance with Kitco’s editorial guidelines; devise feedback loops to improve model performance.

2.            Editorial Workflow Optimization

o             Streamline Editorial Processes: Incorporate AI tools into CMS workflows (e.g., Drupal or other content management systems) to automate repetitive tasks and expedite content production.

o             Identify & Address Pain Points: Collaborate with reporters, editors, and broadcast teams to uncover bottlenecks and develop AI-assisted solutions that reduce manual effort, shorten turnaround times, and ensure higher-quality outputs.

o             Enhance User Experience with Augmented Content: Integrate AI-driven features (e.g., interactive data visualizations, personalized recommendations, or real-time market insights) to provide kitco.com visitors with more engaging, informative, and value-added content.

o             Empower Editorial Teams: Create documentation, training materials, and best practices that help staff confidently leverage AI-enhanced tools—fostering a culture of continuous innovation and improved content delivery.

3.            Cross-Functional Collaboration

o             Work closely with Full-Stack Developers to ensure smooth integration between AI services, APIs, and front-end/back-end components.

o             Coordinate with data specialists to design, manage, and refine training datasets for improved AI model performance (e.g., MySQL, InfluxDB, TimescaleDB, ElasticSearch).

o             Partner with DevOps and infrastructure teams (Docker, Kubernetes, Helm) to deploy and maintain AI services securely and efficiently within Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

4.            System Performance & Reliability

o             Monitor AI-driven workflows and troubleshoot any issues related to performance, reliability, or data quality.

o             Implement metrics and analytics to measure AI effectiveness (e.g., content engagement, editorial satisfaction) and propose iterative improvements.

o             Ensure AI-based solutions align with Kitco’s privacy, security, and ethical standards.

5.            Innovation & Thought Leadership

o             Stay updated with emerging technologies, including generative AI advancements and prompt engineering techniques, to keep Kitco’s editorial operations at the forefront of innovation.

o             Experiment with new models or frameworks (OpenAI, Hugging Face, etc.) to uncover additional opportunities for editorial enhancement.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

•              Technical Proficiency

o             Familiarity with CMS integrations (e.g., Drupal) and API-based data flows (JSON, RESTful APIs).

o             Basic understanding of front-end (Next.js, React) and back-end (Node.js, PHP) development workflows to facilitate collaboration with the development team.

o             Knowledge of containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes, Helm) in cloud environments (GCP).

•              Editorial Awareness

o             Understanding of journalistic principles, editorial processes, and content lifecycle in a media environment.

o             Ability to balance the speed and scale benefits of AI with editorial standards of accuracy and quality.

TECHNICAL / PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCIES (EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE) 

o             Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Journalism, Data Science, or a related field—or equivalent experience.

o             Demonstrated experience with generative AI models, machine learning tools (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch), or similar frameworks.

o             Strong background in system architecture, API design, and enterprise integration patterns.

o             Experience with content management systems and editorial workflows.

The role of Generative AI Integration Specialist involves frequent interaction with internal users outside Quebec and external resources, primarily anglophone, as about 75% of our clientele and partners are based in the United States. The position requires the use of English for creating and managing documentation essential for international operations. Given the international scope and the need for precise, error-free documentation critical to our operations, English is necessary to ensure effective communication and compliance with global operational standards.
