About The Opportunity

Flight Centre Travel Group is seeking an experienced AI Engineer with a proven track record in implementing AI framework and governance; furthermore, delivering successful transformation projects.  As an AI Engineer at Flight Centre Travel Group, you will play a critical role in developing and implementing AI-driven solutions to enhance our travel services. You will work closely with our data science, engineering, and product teams to create intelligent systems that improve customer experiences, optimize operations, and drive business growth.

Our focus is to continue to add value by enabling our business through technology while further globalizing our people and processes.  We have also recently deployed an Omni Channel solution that is critical to our business and their interactions with customers.  This is truly an amazing opportunity to help take FCTG to the next level and change the way we do business with our customers while strengthening our position as a leader in travel tech.

The successful candidate will be hired on a 12 month fixed-term with full benefits. There is a strong potential that the role will become permanent at the end of the term.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with our AI COE to develop/maintain AI framework and governance
  • Design, develop, and deploy AI and machine learning models to solve complex business problems in the travel industry.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for AI-driven improvements and innovations.
  • Implement and optimize algorithms for natural language processing, recommendation systems, predictive analytics, and other AI applications.
  • Analyze large datasets to extract meaningful insights and inform AI model development.
  • Maintain, support, and improve existing AI models and systems, ensuring they are scalable, reliable, and efficient.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in AI and machine learning, and apply new techniques and tools to enhance our capabilities.
  • Communicate technical concepts and project progress to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Resolve bugs/issue when they arise.
  • Manage and deliver against backlog of projects, enhancements, and bugs/issues.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in AI and machine learning, with a strong portfolio of relevant projects.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or Java.
  • Experience with machine learning frameworks and libraries (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn).
  • Familiarity with data processing and analysis tools (e.g., Pandas, NumPy).
  • Knowledge of natural language processing, computer vision, and/or recommendation systems
  • Experience in the travel or hospitality industry.
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud, Azure) and related AI/ML services.
  • Familiarity with big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark).
  • Experience with Salesforce Einstein is a plus
  • Technical Skills:  proficient in Apex, Visualforce, Lightning Components, and Salesforce API’s.  Experience with other programming languages is a plus.
  • Problem-Solving Abilities:  analytical mindset and strong problem-solving skills to identify and resolve issues. 
  • Collaboration and Communication:  excellent collaboration and communication skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams, business stakeholders, and end users through product owners.  Ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions and provide level 3 support

For this position, we anticipate offering an annual salary in the range of $120,000 - $134,000.
