About the role

As a Fleet Safety & Compliance Coordinator at Gatik, you will play a key role in ensuring the safety and compliance of our autonomous fleet and driver operations. You will oversee the registration, insurance, and permitting of company equipment while managing driver safety training and compliance with Federal, State, and Local regulations. Your work will directly contribute to maintaining the high standards of safety and operational efficiency that our Fortune 500 customers, such as Kroger, Walmart, and Tyson Foods, rely on for their short-haul logistics needs. This role is integral to developing and executing safety programs, monitoring driver performance, and analyzing data to reduce safety incidents and ensure compliance with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) and Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements. You will work closely with operations and maintenance teams to promote a safety-first culture and help maintain our reputation as a leader in autonomous middle-mile logistics.

This role will be onsite 5 days a week at our Fort Worth, TX office.

What you'll do

  • Maintain Accurate Records: Maintain an internal database of driver status, license information, DOT compliance records, and Driver Qualification Files.
  • Safety Training Programs: Develop, execute, and maintain driver safety training programs in compliance with OSHA, FMCSA, and company safety policies, including proper use of the ELD system.
  • Audit Readiness: Ensure that all safety and compliance records are maintained and readily accessible for audits. Prepare and support internal and external audits related to DOT compliance and safety standards.
  • Policy & Procedure Development: Create, update, and implement company policies and procedures to ensure compliance with DOT regulations and best safety practices.
  • Regulation Monitoring: Stay up-to-date with changes in DOT regulations, FMCSA standards, and other relevant laws, ensuring that Gatik's policies and procedures reflect the latest legal requirements.
  • Driver Safety Monitoring: Conduct ride-along sessions to ensure drivers are adhering to safety protocols, identifying safety challenges, and providing ongoing coaching and support.
  • Safety & Compliance Reporting: Develop driver and fleet scorecards to track overall safety and compliance performance. Report non-compliant drivers or incidents to management for corrective action.
  • Accident Investigation: Investigate accidents and incidents, ensuring compliance with FMCSA and company reporting requirements, including post-accident drug/alcohol testing and re-training as needed.
  • Data Analysis & Trend Monitoring: Utilize safety/compliance technology to analyze trends, monitor driver behavior, and develop action plans to prevent safety incidents and accidents.
  • Safety Leadership: Promote a "Safety-Focused" culture across the company by setting an example, championing safety best practices, and driving continuous improvements in safety performance.
  • Cross-Department Collaboration: Work closely with the operations and human resource teams to ensure seamless coordination and communication around safety and compliance efforts.
What we're looking for
  • 5+ years of safety experience in the transportation industry, including working with FMCSA and DOT regulations.
  • Strong understanding of electronic log compliance (ELD), and safety training programs.
  • Experience managing compliance for both local and non-local workforce or trucking fleet operations.
