About the role - What’s your purpose?

Signal AI, the A.I.-powered platform for corporate reputation and risk intelligence, is hiring a Financial Controller to lead the day-to-day functions of the finance team. In this pivotal role, you will manage all finance-related activities, including financial reporting, internal controls, compliance, and team leadership. The ideal candidate will bring strong analytical skills, deep knowledge of financial regulations, and experience in scaling finance functions in a dynamic environment.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities - What you will be doing: 

• Financial Reporting & Analysis: Oversee the preparation of the Group and subsidiary financial statements and other reporting, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards. Working with external advisors to ensure compliance in each of the jurisdictions in which we operate.

• Technical Accounting: Research and review current accounting standard changes, and prepare documentation to justify the application of treatment.

• Investor regular & ad-hoc reporting: Preparation of external reporting to specific requirements, collaborating with the team to collate & review the accuracy of requested information before submission.

• Team Management: Line manage a team of 3 finance professionals responsible for the daily business operations. Coaching and development of the roles, ensuring a high-performing and motivated team.

• Internal Controls & Compliance: Continue to develop and implement robust internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure adherence to financial regulations.​ Collaborate with various departments, identifying automation opportunities and risks in various internal processes.

• Cash Flow Management: Monitor cash flow, optimising liquidity to support operational needs. Manage the treasury policy, regularly updating and amending as per business needs.

• Audit & Tax Coordination: Coordinate with external auditors and manage tax compliance, including the preparation of necessary documentation. Identify and manage tax risks in line with our roadmap. Lead the finance side of the R&D claim process, working closely with external advisors and internal technical teams to verify data and closely monitor application of scheme rules.

• Process Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy within the finance function.​

• Payroll: Work closely with the HR function to review and analyse staff costs across four entities. Prepare and submit pension contributions, benefits and expenses and other ad-hoc compliance reporting.

• Cost awareness and management: Involvement in the budget committee, carefully reviewing and scrutinising spend requests with the view to balancing business needs with profitability goals.

Who are we looking for?

• Excellent knowledge of accounting principles under FRS102 and IFRS

• Advanced Microsoft Office & Google Sheets skills

• Familiarity with NetSuite preferred

• Impeccable organisational and time-management skills
