Job Summary:
The Accountant will be responsible for managing and overseeing the financial operations of the company, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, compliance with local regulations, and effective financial management. The role includes preparing financial statements, managing accounts payable and receivable, performing reconciliations, and supporting budgeting and forecasting activities.
Financial Reporting:
Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, including profit and loss accounts, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
Ensure compliance with local accounting standards (e.g., Malaysian Financial Reporting Standards - MFRS).
Assist in the preparation of management reports and financial analysis for decision-making.
General Accounting:
Maintain the general ledger, ensuring all transactions are recorded accurately and in a timely manner.
Perform month-end and year-end closing activities, including reconciliations of bank accounts, ledgers, and intercompany accounts.
Monitor and manage accounts payable and receivable processes.
Taxation & Compliance:
Prepare and submit tax returns in compliance with Malaysian tax laws (e.g., SST, corporate tax, etc.).
Liaise with auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory authorities to ensure compliance with all statutory requirements.
Keep up to date with changes in local laws and regulations affecting accounting practices.
Budgeting & Forecasting:
Assist in the preparation of the annual budget and financial forecasts.
Monitor actual performance against budgets and forecasts, providing variance analysis and recommendations.
Support cash flow management by preparing cash flow forecasts and monitoring liquidity.
Internal Controls & Process Improvement:
Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the integrity of financial records.
Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies within the finance function.
Ensure compliance with corporate policies and procedures.
Support to Finance Team:
Provide support and guidance to junior accounting staff.
Collaborate with other departments to ensure the smooth functioning of financial processes.
Participate in special projects and financial initiatives as required.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Professional qualifications (e.g., ACCA, CPA, ICAEW) are preferred.
Experience: Minimum 3-5 years of accounting experience, preferably in a similar role.
Knowledge: Strong understanding of Malaysian Financial Reporting Standards (MFRS), tax regulations, and accounting principles.
Skills:
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, QuickBooks) and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Hours: Full-time, standard office hours
Location: Office-based with occasional travel for audits or meetings as required.
