Field Support Technician Job Description: Provides technical and operational support on the waterfront for the operation and administration of complex IT infrastructure including thin/thick-clients, domain servers, and databases. Typical duties will include backups; configuration management services; system patching, monitoring, diagnosis, troubleshooting and repair; tech refresh and upgrades; technical meetings; and maintaining, configuring, and updating baseline configurations as per Risk Management Framework (RMF)/Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS) requirements. Field Support Technician Required Tasks: ·       Troubleshoot and repair IT related systems onsite. ·       Provide onsite maintenance training to customer service representatives if required.  ·       Utilize Linux, Windows, and other operating systems as needed to maintain infrastructure operation. ·       Maintains smooth operation of multi-user computer systems, including coordination with network administrators. ·       Perform set-up of administrator and service accounts, maintain system documentation, tune system performance, install system-wide software, and allocate storage space. ·       Interact with users and evaluates vendor products. ·       Recommend the purchase of repair parts, coordinate their installation, and provide backup recovery. ·       Develop and monitor policies and standards for allocation of computing resources. ·       Contribute to the completion of milestones associated with specific projects. Field Support Technician Required Skills and Experience: ·       Minimum of five years of recent experience in maintaining either or both the Consolidated Afloat Network Enterprise Services (CANES) or Global Command and Control – Maritime (GCCS-M) systems.  Must have some experience that has occurred within the past 3 years. ·       Maintain hardware, install and upgrade system software.  ·       Plan and follow schedules with little oversight or direction. ·       Possess teamwork and Full Spectrum Leadership capabilities. ·       Able to work under general supervision and communicate clearly with peers and superiors in a friendly and professional manner. ·       Excellent organizational and reporting abilities. ·       Effective oral and written communication. ·       Able to lift 50 pounds. Field Support Technician Desired Skills: ·       Experience troubleshooting and/or configuring Windows servers to include SharePoint, and Exchange and Active Directory (MCSE/MCSA certifications a plus). ·       Experience with the administration and configuration of Security policies as related to both Windows and Linux servers.  ·       Familiarity with Risk Management Framework (RMF).  ·       Familiarity with configuring VMs (Virtualization).  ·       Red Hat Linux Administration.  ·       Networking knowledge. Field Support Technician Additional Requirements: ·       Able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Level Clearance which means you must be a U.S. Citizen. We will help you obtain if hired. ·       Must possess and maintain CompTIA Security+ and SSCP (Systems Security Certified Practitioner) certifications as a Level 2 IT Workforce Technician. ·       Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education. Minimum of five years related experience. ·       Willingness to work overtime and off shift when needed. Contract Term: Full-Time Employee, 40 hours/week.
